  • Instead of tips he's leaving this???

    Posted by Otis Day

A guy from California is handing out these instead of tips.

    Tip note

Seriously? How about you eat at home instead? Or save a little money on printer ink and paper? I know you're trying to make a point, but don't do it at the expense of the people taking care of you. Ridiculous.....er no?

  • Here come more Facebook Timeline changes

    Posted by Otis Day

Yay! More changes are coming to the Facebook Timeline. Anything to keep me from having to read people complaining about how all republicans or all democrats are idiots. Anything to keep me from having to see another picture of the mad cat.

    mad cat

Anything to keep me from wanting to eat my computer after looking at all the Pinterest recipe postings of cupcakes.

So...here are the Timeline changes coming to facebook according to the Chicago Tribune article posted a few hours ago (1/9/13):

    • Your posts will now be in a single wide column on the left side instead of that crazy spitting thing where posts are randomly put all over the freaking place.

    • The boxes near the top below your cover image will be swapped out with a cleaner looking tabbed thing.

    • There's a new "collections manager" so you can drag and reorder your collections and put maps and friends where you want them. You'll be able to move things around on the ride side.

    • People who subscribe to your public updates will now be called....wait for it....wait for it...followers. Subscribers/followers are different than friends. Friends will still be called friends. Until Twitter comes up with something better that Facebook can steal.

There's a few more Timeline changes coming....get the scoop from the Chicago Tribune here.

  • People like Congress more than the Kardashians but less than Nickelback and head lice???

    Posted by Otis Day

A survey (I read it on yahoo.com) found that Congress is more popular than telemarketers, the deadly ebola virus, gonorrhea, the Kardashians, Lindsay Lohan, communism, disgraced Democratic former Sen. John Edwards, playground bullies and meth labs.

The bad news--Americans still have a higher opinion of head lice, colonoscopies, cockroaches, Nickelback, the NFL replacement refs, and Donald Trump.

Congress' approval rating is at 9 percent. 85 percent of people in the survey disapprove of the job they're doing.

The poll (from Public Policy Polling) also pitted Congress vs. root canals:  Congress got 32 percent while root canals got 56 percent.

NFL replacement refs?: Congress loses 29 to 56 percent.

Head lice?: Congress loses 19 to 67 percent

Nickelback?: Congress lost 32 to 39 percent

Colonoscopies?: Congress lost, 31 to 58 percent.

Americans rated lawmakers higher than telemarketers (45 to 35 percent); John Edwards (45 to 29 percent); the Kardashians (49 to 36 percent, with 16 percent not sure); lobbyists (48 to 30 percent), North Korea (61 to 26 percent), ebola (53 to 25 percent with 21 percent apparently not sure whether they prefer their elected representatives over death after bleeding from various bodily orifices); Lindsay Lohan (though the 45 to 41 percent ratio falls well within the margin of error); Fidel Castro (54 to 32 percent); communism (57 to 23 percent); and gonorrhea (53 to 28 percent).

  • Dating advice for people from 20 to 50-years old.

    Posted by Otis Day

    From Match.com and Yahoo.com

What people in their 30s wish they'd known while dating in their 20s…

    1. Try being friends with someone first--When you're in your twenties, you don't take very much time to get to know a person. If you're physically attracted and that attraction is mutual, the relationship happens quickly. But that doesn't give you time to find potential flaws or even realize if you liked them past the lust stages. SO you find yourself in and out of relationships. In your thirties you'll notice you're much more relaxed and patient.

    2. Push through your fear of rejection--Ego is a person's worst enemy and it stops you from approaching the person you want all because you're afraid of rejection or worried you're not good enough. Push the envelope and see what's possible for yourself; go talk to anyone and everyone that you feel like. If they're not interested, it's not a reflection on you because they don't even know you. Once you start getting some positive feedback, you get rejected less and less, then the process becomes a lot easier and turns into something fun and enjoyable.

    3. Don't let The One get away just because you're young--Grab a good thing when you see it and don't let go. If you do, don't give up, you may be lucky enough to get a second chance.

    4. Celebrate how you feel about your mate--There comes a time in every person's life when you look at the person you're dating and realize that they are the single greatest thing that's ever happened to you. And when you do, don't be afraid to tell them and let others know how you feel, too. They will appreciate it.

What people in their 40s wish they'd known while dating in their 30s…

    1. That "must-have" checklist is keeping you from The One--Get rid of your checklist of what you think you want in a partner. You don't always know what you need. Open yourself to dating men of all types.

    2. Realize that "boring" isn't always bad--Find someone boring! It's not actually that the person is entirely that way. But someone who you see as boring might be the outlet that helps you start to settle down and see who you really are. Partying at bars and looking for The One there will jade you. Hanging out with a simple, boring individual will make you see that there's more to life than who's buying the next round.

    3. After getting your heart broken, you will meet someone else—The pain you feel will end. And you may not believe it, but you're just six months away from feeling better and you're only a year away from meeting someone fantastic.

    4. Don't bother staying in a drama-filled relationship--If the relationship isn't working and there's a lot of drama after a year, then you need to let it go.

What people in their 50s wish they'd known while dating in their 40s…

    1. Don't jump from one marriage to another--You'll be a much stronger person when you stop being afraid of being alone. Having a person to rescue you feels great at the time, but you're not in the best place to see them clearly. That sets you up for disaster down the line.

    2. Maintain your platonic friendships--When you find yourself ready to date again, platonic friends will be more than happy to set you up with someone. Good friends aren't going to set you up with a jerk.

    3. Use caution if you have conflicting ideas about kids—If you're a man, be careful of single women in their 30s; they may just want to have a baby. Instead, consider dating women in their early 40s. They're sincerely looking to be in a relationship. Regardless of their stage in life, take your time and look for something that meets both people's needs, hopes and desires.

What people in their 60s wish they'd known while dating in their 50s…

    1. Date someone your own age--Dating people close to your own age sometimes works best. Not having to explain the world you grew up in makes connecting easier and more meaningful. And you don't need a young person to make you feel good about aging.

    2. Date around to figure out exactly what you want--Date far and wide and do not stop dating too quickly! Get to know yourself and your goals very well before you commit to one person for the rest of your life.

  • Escalator suddenly speeds up and reverses direction*VIDEO*

    Posted by Otis Day

Did you see this yet? It's video from Jersey City when a steep escalator started speeding
up and moving backwards during the morning commute.

You can see panic set in a little and some people leap off and hold on to the handrails while about a dozen people pile up at the bottom.

Five people were hurt...but not seriously.

When it first starts going down I don't understand why the people don't run faster to get up. It seems like they should be able to out run it....but maybe the shock confuses them into barely trotting up while the escalator speeds down freaking everyone out.

  • The biggest selling album for 2012 is the same one that was number 1 in 2011!

    Posted by Otis Day

Adele's "21" was 2012's best-selling album in the United States, making it the first time during the SoundScan era that the same album has taken the top spot two years in a row.

The set sold 4.41 million copies in 2012, down from 5.82 million in 2011. "21" also became the 21st album to sell 10 million copies since SoundScan started tracking music sales in 1991.

One Direction took the third and fifth spots with "Up All Night" (1.62 million) and "Take Me Home" (1.34 million). That made them the first act in the SoundScan era to take two of the top five spots.

In fourth place was Mumford & Sons' "Babel", who sold 1.46 copies and made it the biggest selling rock album of the year and the only rock record to appear in the top 10.
