  • Top 10 Best Movie Debuts of All Time

    Posted by Rachel Reinke

It's no surprise that "Iron Man 3" took the top spot at the box office this weekend and brought in a nice chunk of change......$175,300,000. WOW! It just shows that no matter how bad the economy, people are still willing to spend the money on a ticket to catch a good movie in the theater.

And even though "Iron Man 3" took in a staggering amount of money, it is not the best movie debut of all time.

    Here are the top 10

    10. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1," $138,122,261

    9. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2," $141,067,634

    8. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," $142,839,137

    7. "Spider-Man 3," $151,116,516

    6. "The Hunger Games," $152,535,747

    5. "The Dark Knight,"  $158,411,483

    4. "The Dark Knight Rises,"  $160,887,295

    3. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,"  $169,189,427

    2. "Iron Man 3,"  $175,300,000

So I guess Robert Downey Jr. is doing alright for himself.

  • Does This Caterpillar Remind You of Anything?

    Posted by Rachel Reinke

This is a rare flannel moth caterpillar found in the Peru rainforest.

When I first saw this picture I couldn't help but think that this scary looking giant caterpillar reminded me of something. Then it dawned on me......

Yep, this caterpillar reminds me and lots of other people around the web like Donald Trump's infamous "hair".  And now, the caterpillar has been nicknamed the Donald Trump Caterpillar.

You don't want to run into one of these caterpillars though, the yellow mane of the flannel moth caterpillar can poke into your skin and release a venom.  Guess I won't be going to rainforests in Peru anytime soon.

See the "Donald Trump" caterpillar in action.

  • Women Love a Man in Uniform

    Posted by Rachel Reinke

It's an accepted law of life that women LOVE a man in uniform.  But which uniform turns them on the MOST?

In a new survey, more than 1,100 women ranked the top uniforms that get them going.  Here are the top five . . .

    1.  Doctors and surgeons.

    2.  Delivery men.

    3.  Firefighters.

    4.  Military servicemen.

    5.  Pilots.

Doctors and surgeons are most definitely not my number 1.....that would be men in a BASEBALL UNIFORM.  Let me show you why....

  • Bloody Mary Fan? You Might Wanna Head to Fon du Lac, WI

    Posted by Rachel Reinke

I really enjoy a good bloody mary, even when I'm not just trying to cure a hangover.  I have tasted many bloody marys from my days in college to more recent ones here in Minnesota, but I must say I really miss Wisconsin when I look at this bloody mary which apparently only costs $5 in Fon du Lac! Anywhere else it would probably cost around $20.

Look at all the stuff included! I need to find out where this is served.

What do you think? Are you a fan of bloody marys? Would you order this?

I also really like the logo in the background. ;-)

  • Foods to Eat in Your 20s, 30s, 40s......

    Posted by Rachel Reinke

The nutrients your body needs change as you get older so what worked at 20 to fuel won't necessarily work at 40.

Here are some foods that will boost you physically and mentally throughout your life.

    20s: Salmon

Quarter life crises and depression are really common, more in women than in men so it is good to fuel up on salmon. Salmon is full of omega-3 fatty acids which help to boost serotonin levels to make you feel good.  Aim for 2 servings of salmon a week.

    30s: Eggs and Spinach

Since most women are in their prime baby making years in their 30s it is good to eat eggs and spinach. They both contain choline which helps in developing a babies brain properly.  Spinach also contains folate which helps prevent birth defects. Make a spinach omelet each day for recommended amounts of choline and folate.

    40s: Lean Beef and Broccoli

Lean Beef is high in iron and helps to keep energy levels up and pump oxygen to the brain. However the American Cancer Society suggests women in their 40s stick to around 18oz per week because more can mess with heart and cancer risk. Also eat lots of cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli, as they may reduce breast cancer.

    50s: Non- or Low-Fat Yogurt

Your body needs calcium to protect your bones, especially as you age. Yogurt provides one quarter of your daily calcium. For the rest of your daily intake drink non-fat milk and orange juice fortified with calcium. You can also snack on low-fat cheese.

    60s: Beans

Beans of all kinds are high in potassium and good for your heart. They also help to lower blood pressure and are high in fiber which keeps you feeling fuller longer. Add beans of all kinds to your meals, but be careful....as the song goes, "Beans, beans, they're good for the heart........" you know the rest.

  • 5 Ways To Tell If It's a Date or a Hangout

    Posted by Rachel Reinke

When someone you're interested in wants to hang out, it's not always clear whether it's an actual DATE . . . or just something casual.  So we've got a list of five different situations, and whether they mean date . . . or hang out.

    1.  They Ask You Out on a Whim.  When someone wants to take you out on a date, they usually have a plan in mind, and ask if you want to do something specific on a certain day at a set time.

If they ask you that same AFTERNOON if you want to grab coffee later, it's probably just a casual invite to hang out.  They either see you as a friend, or they want to get to know you better first.  So it's POSSIBLY a date . . . but not likely.

    2.  They Seem Nervous.  If someone seems nervous when they're asking you out, it means they're scared of being rejected . . . because they see some real potential.  And that's a good thing, so it's PROBABLY a date.

    3.  He Calls You "Dude".  A guy who calls you "dude" is offering an important clue about his feelings for you:  It means he thinks of you as 'one of the guys,' and not a potential girlfriend.  So it's probably NOT a date.

    4.  He Doesn't Offer to Pay, or Agrees to Split the Check.  This is simple:  When a guy is interested in becoming more than friends, he will ALWAYS pick up the check.  If he doesn't, it's NOT a date.

    5.  They Ask You A Lot of Questions.  If you're out with someone who asks a ton of questions, chances are they're trying to get to know you better, and figure out if you’re someone they'd want to date.  So that's a GOOD sign.

I really wish I would've known about this sooner so I could've spent last weekend in Chicago.  At least I know when to schedule vacation for next year. Have you ever heard of Baconfest?!?! Celebrating everything bacon from dinners and desserts to poems and cocktails.

There are Baconfests held all over the country but the three biggest are held in Chicago, San Fransisco and Washington D.C. (one baconfest a year just isn't enough).

Some of the highlights from Chicago Baconfest include the Baco which will be served at the stadium of the minor league baseball team, West Michigan Whitecaps. Road trip anyone?

    Everything's Better With Bacon

Some other noteable bacon mentions include bacon and egg ice cream cones, bacon margaritas, bacon "Elvis Presley" cocktail, bacon roses, nachos with bacon chips and bacon lollipops.
