    It may not come as a big surprise, but it was just announced that Madonna was the most played artist in the U-K during the last decade. According to BBC News, the “Like a Prayer” singer beat out Brits The Beatles and Robbie Williams, who came in second and third respectively. The list was based on plays on radio, TV and in public places too, including bars and restaurants, from 2000 through 2009. Madonna was the only female solo artist to make the top ten.




    Ever wanted the chance to star in a music video? Well Train is giving their fans the opportunity! The “Hey Soul Sister” rockers will be filming a new clip in Los Angeles tomorrow, and if you’re in the area, they want you to be a part of it. Learn more about how to get involved at




    Sara Bareilles was at the White House over the weekend for their annual Easter-egg hunt, and the singer-songwriter videotaped a little bit of her time there. She filmed herself playing with President Obama’s dog Bo on the White House lawn. See the vid now at




    Students from a music school in Ohio have covered a Shinedown track. The kids recorded their version of “The Sound Of Madness” at the Saint Claire Recording Company in Lexington, Kentucky. The students are all in the eighth grade and performed the rock song only five times. Fans can check out a video of their cover now on YouTube.




    MySpace is offering Muse fans a dream opportunity. The site is running a competition to find fans to interview the trio for the social networking site.     Weezer has announced a few more tour dates for 2010. The band is set to play the Mile High Music Festival on August 15th in Denver. Tickets for the event go on sale on April 10th. The group will also play the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England this summer. The band hasn’t played in the U-K since 2005 during their Make Believe Tour.

    SHEEN QUITTING TWO AND A HALF MEN? Recently, there have been some rumors that Charlie Sheen is planning to leave his hit CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men, but sources close to the show told TMZ that those rumors are laughable considering how much the actor stands to make over the next two seasons. Warner Bros. is considering paying Charlie one-million dollars per episode and few people would walk away from 48-million bucks. Read more at


    TIGER WOODS’ TEACHER! Has Tiger Woods been caught in a lie again? According to TMZ, Woods’ kindergarten teacher is refuting the golfer’s claims that sixth graders tied him to a tree and spray-painted a racial slur on him when he was in kindergarten. The teacher hired go-to attorney Gloria Allred and held a news conference to deny the rumors.


    LINDSAY LOHAN’S MONEY TROUBLES! Not only is Lindsay Lohan struggling to stay current with her rent payments, but the fallen actress is reportedly broke! reports Lohan was served with a legal notice demanding she make timely rent payments or leave the residence. Sources are worried that she won’t be able to pay up since she doesn’t have consistent income – due to her alleged substance abuse issues. In addition, family and friends are concerned that if Lindsay doesn’t clean up her act soon, her behavior could ultimately be her demise.


    DID DAHMER KILL WALSH’S SON? John Walsh started hosting America’s Most Wanted after his six-year-old son Adam was kidnapped and killed in 1981. The case remains unsolved but now, there is new evidence possibly linking the murder to Jeffrey Dahmer. In an investigation by the Miami Herald, witnesses claim to have seen Dahmer, who had recently been discharged from the Army, with Adam at the Florida mall where he was abducted. One witness even stated he saw the soon-to-be serial killer force a crying boy into the back of a blue van – and those close to Dahmer said he had a blue van.     CAST MEMBER LEAVES LAW & ORDER! The next season of Law & Order is going to look a little different. That’s because after 16 years, S. Epatha Merkerson, who plays the character “Lt. Anita Van Buren,” is leaving the show. In an interview with, the actress said that “it’s time to go” and that “this will be a great way to leave what has been an extraordinary gig.”


    JOHN FORSYTHE DIES. John Forsythe, the actor best known as the voice of “Charlie” in the original TV series and film versions of Charlie’s Angels, has died. According to CNN, Forsythe lost his year-long battle with cancer on Friday. In a statement, his family said, “He was 92 years old and, thankfully, he died as he lived his life …with grace and dignity.”


    SHANNEN DOHERTY OWES TAXES! According to, actress Shannen Doherty reportedly owes back taxes to the state of California. After being hit with a tax lien for over 44-thousand dollars, the former 90210 star and Dancing With The Stars contestant has stated that the matter will “be taken care of promptly.”


    TRACY DOESN’T REMEMBER LUKE! Is Tracy Morgan’s memory that bad? According to, Morgan and Luke Wilson both star in the forthcoming movie Death at a Funeral, but Wilson insists that after weeks of filming, Morgan still couldn’t remember his name. Wilson said, “I could tell he didn’t recognize me - after two weeks. And I said, ‘It’s Luke.’ He said, ‘Have a good weekend, Lou.’ He called me Lou.” Death at a Funeral hits theaters on April 16th.


    ACTOR REFUSES TO DO SEX SCENE! Neal McDonough, an actor you may have seen on Desperate Housewives or in Minority Report, has been kicked off ABC’s new series Scoundrels. The reason? Due to religious reasons, he refused to do a love scene with co-star Virginia Madsen. McDonough has said in the past that he will never do sex scenes. According to, he’s been replaced by actor James Elliot.


    FAVREAU FINISHES IRON MAN 2! Director Jon Favreau has finished his highly anticipated Iron Man sequel. Favreau tweeted Thursday night, “Iron Man 2 is signed, sealed, delivered!” On Friday, Favs took again to his Twitter page and wrote, “Absolutely nothing to do today. What a glorious feeling.” Iron Man grossed over 318-million dollars at the box office last summer. Iron Man 2 is set to fly into theaters on May 7th.


    JIMMY FALLON’S FUNNY! Jimmy Fallon made a funny joke during his monologue on The Late Night with Jimmy Fallow show Thursday night. He poked fun at Vice President Joe Biden, who recently dropped the F-bomb while talking to President Barack Obama. Fallon said, “An ice cream shop in Peoria, Illinois named a flavor after Joe Biden. It comes in small, medium, and “f**king huge.”

    Has Lady Gaga written “the anthem for our generation?” The pop star certainly seems to think so. In a post on fan site, the “Bad Romance” singer said that she has “already written the first single for the new album,” that the record will be the “greatest” of her career, and that “it is the anthem for our generation.” Gaga also revealed that she has chosen a title for the album, but that she doesn’t want to “spoil it yet.”




    Sheryl Crow is a known environmentalist, and it seems as if she’s teaching this to her son Wyatt at a very young age. According to, the “All I Wanna Do” singer says that she was taught to not waste water at an early age, and now she’s concerned about what kind of planet she’s leaving for her two-and-a-half-year-old. Crow said that “he already knows not to flush the toilet unless, you know, you have to.”

    Renee Zellweger stars in the upcoming movie My Own Love Song and in the film, the actress sings a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Life is Hard.” In fact, Dylan oversaw the full soundtrack for the flick, and that work even inspired his 2009 album, Together Through Life. The movie, which co-stars Forest Whitaker, is about a wheelchair-bound singer taking a road trip to Memphis with her best friend.     HOPPER’S WIFE ACCUSED OF TRYING TO KILL HIM! Did Dennis Hopper’s wife try to kill him? Yes, according to the actor’s assistant. TMZ reports that, as part of Dennis’ ongoing divorce battle with Victoria Hopper, assistant Emily Davis claimed in legal papers that everyone in the Hopper household were “at the mercy of [Victoria’s] cruelty” when Dennis went to the hospital last December, adding that Victoria “was trying to kill him.” Dennis’ wife wants to be sure that, if a divorce is granted, she gets inheritance from the actor, who is suffering from cancer. She told TMZ that Davis’ claims are “outrageous, horrifying and not based on facts or reality.”


    BROOKE BURKE PREGNANT! Radar Online is reporting that Dancing With the Stars host Brooke Burke is pregnant with baby number five. This is Burke’s first season hosting Dancing With the Stars. She won the show back in 2008 with dancing partner Derek Hough. Brooke’s longtime domestic partner is Baywatch’s David Charvet.


    A BLOSSOM REUNION! A Blossom reunion is coming to the small screen! is reporting that members of the hit ‘90s show including Mayim Bialik, Jenna Von Oy and Michael Stoyanov will be appearing on an episode of FOX’s ‘Til Death.     John Mayer has just announced dates for the summer leg of his Battle Studies tour. It will kick off July 16th in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will keep the singer-songwriter on the road for the rest of the season until September 11th when it winds down in West Palm Beach, Florida. While Michael Franti has been opening up for Mayer on the current leg of his trek, Mayer will have three openers for different dates during the summer: Train, Owl City and the Avett Brothers.     Alanis Morissette’s song “I Remain” will be featured in the end credits of the forthcoming film Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. According to a press release, the singer-songwriter said that “the song wrote itself and this story was the ultimate muse.” Prince of Persia: Sands of Time hits theaters this Memorial Day Weekend, while the soundtrack will be available on May 25th.




    Ingird Michaelson just announced via press release that she will be heading out on a summer headlining tour. It will begin on June 7th in Toronto, Canada and wrap up June 20th in Tarrytown, New York.     Carrie Underwood, The Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Annie Lennox and Jeff Beck will perform on Idol Gives Back, which airs Wednesday, April 21st at 8 PM on FOX. Idol Gives Back has made history by raising over 140 million dollars for charity to date. This year’s special will help raise awareness and funds to benefit various U-S and international charities, including Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U-S Programs and the United Nations Foundation.     Another celebrity has just come out as a fan of Lady Gaga. Sarah Jessica Parker told MTV that not only does she love the pop star because people compare her “unconventional” style to SJP’s Sex and the City character “Carrie Bradshaw,” but Sarah insists she loved Gaga before she became mainstream. Parker also said that her son James is a big fan, and that he performed a version of “Bad Romance” for a singing contest.




    We reported that a few weeks ago, a Lady Gaga impersonator was walking the streets of Melbourne, Australia, pretending to be the pop star. Well it appears that it’s happened again, but this time it was the people of Perth, Australia that were fooled.     Lady Antebellum’s recent Webisode Wednesday features not only the band’s first mall appearance, but Dave Haywood’s skills involving fruit. Dave proves he can throw fruit extremely high in the air, and launches an apple on to the Saddledome Arena in Alberta, Canada. The video even shows footage of him doing the same stunt last year at the arena while on tour with Keith Urban.     Sting has written an article on The Huffington Post, calling for the legalization of marijuana. The singer feels America is wasting money putting pot users in jail when that money can be spent overcoming poverty and stopping global warming. Sting wrote, “The ‘War on Drugs’ has failed but it’s worse than that. It is actively harming our society. Violent crime is thriving in the shadows to which the drug trade has been consigned.” Sting wants people to support the Drug Policy Alliance, which campaigns for those jailed for non-violent drug offenses to be released.     STAND AND DELIVER TEACHER DIES. Jaime Escalante, the high school math teacher whose story was told in the film Stand and Deliver, died on Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. Edward James Olmos, who portrayed Escalante in the 1988 movie, told the L-A Times, “He did so much for so many people. And he did it with such grace and dignity.” Escalante transformed the math program at East L-A’s Garfield High School into one of the top rated programs in the country. He was 79.


    STALKER NEWS! The man accused of stalking Jennifer Garner has been sentenced to stay in a mental institution. A judge found Steven Burky not guilty of felony stalking by reason of insanity and ordered him to Patton State Hospital. Check out for more.


    MORE INDEPENDENCE DAY! In 1996, the Roland Emmerich-directed Independence Day became a huge hit and now, there are reports that Roland is planning two sequels to the flick. According to, Will Smith is attached to return for the movies, which will be penned by original writer Dean Devlin. The films are set to be shot back to back next year but there is no word yet on what the plot of each will be.


    MATT DAMON ON 30 ROCK! According to, Matt Damon is scheduled to guest star on 30 Rock. The actor stated back in December that he would do the series “in a heartbeat” adding, “[Tina Fey] should call my people – or even better, me. Or I could call her. Let’s make this happen.” It is not yet known which episode Damon will appear in, but he’s rumored to be on one of the final shows of the season.


    STARS SIGN ON FOR HANGOVER SEQUEL! Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis have finally signed on for a Hangover sequel. Director Todd Phillips will once again helm the film, which is expected to start production in July.


    SIMON SPOILS HIS FIANCEE! Simon Cowell’s fiancée, Mezhgan Hussainy, is reportedly getting spoiled rotten. According to British paper the Daily Mirror, the American Idol judge bought her a 1954 Jaguar for her 37th birthday, with a price tag of around 100-thousand dollars. A source said that they are both big fans of luxury cars.


    FAMED TV WRITER DAVID MILLS DIES. David Mills, who over the past 20 years produced and wrote for shows like The Wire, ER, Picket Fences and Homicide, has passed away. According to CNN, Mills died of a brain aneurysm on Tuesday in New Orleans, where he was working on the new HBO series Treme. He was 48.

    Could Lady Gaga be penning the theme song for the next installment in the James Bond franchise? According to British paper The Sun, a source said that all the people in charge of the films, which currently star Daniel Craig in the title role, are “huge Gaga fans” and that “her sound and sense of drama make her the top choice.” The forthcoming as-yet-untitled Bond movie has a tentative release date of sometime next year.




    It’s been known for a while now that there will be an episode of Glee that will be based around the music of Lady Gaga, and now we know a few of the songs that will be performed on the hit program. According to, Lea Michele’s character of “Rachel” will sing a “stripped-down” version of “Poker Face,” while the whole group will be singing “Bad Romance” dressed in Gaga-inspired outfits. Glee is back on FOX beginning April 13th.




    Madonna just got a new family member, and no, she didn’t adopt another child! is reporting that the Queen of Pop and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres are 11th cousins! Family history experts traced the lineage of both celebs and found out that they share a common 10th great-grandfather, whose daughters came over to America from France and settled in Nova Scotia in the early 1600’s.

    Carrie Underwood has yet another accomplishment under her belt, as she was named “Hottest Hockey Wife” in an ESPN magazine poll. Fans thought Carrie was the hottest wife in hockey, even though she’s not even married yet! She won with 48-percent of the votes, beating out Hilary Duff and Willa Ford.




    Amy Winehouse had her song “Rehab” featured in an episode of the hit TV show Glee, and apparently, she was paid pretty handsomely for it. According to British paper The Daily Mirror, the embattled singer got 55-thousand pounds, or around 75-thousand dollars, for the use of her song. The paper says that this was the most that the program has paid any artist to use their song, beating out the likes of Journey who allowed the use of “Don’t Stop Believing.”




    The NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four takes place this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Daughtry is going to be there to help out with the festivities.     SANDRA WON’T ADOPT! Sandra Bullock’s rep has responded to the rumors that Bullock is looking into adopting Jesse James’s children. The spokesperson told USA Today that “there are no plans, nor have there ever been any plans, for Sandra Bullock to adopt any of Jesse James’s children.” Check out for more.


    NEW BOOK FROM TWILIGHT AUTHOR! Get ready Twilight fans, because author Stephanie Meyer is putting out a new book. It’s called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner and it will hit stores on June 5th. According to the Associated Press, it will be a novella told from the viewpoint of “Bree,” a vampire featured in the book Eclipse. Also, one dollar from each book sold from the first printing of 1.5-million copies will be donated to the Red Cross.


    FLIGHT CREW CALLS COPS ON BELUSHI! The crew of an American Airlines flight made sure cops were waiting when the plane landed in Vegas after Jim Belushi got into a mid-flight argument. It all started after the flight attendant woke Belushi up from a nap as the plane began its descent. According to TMZ, Jim was less than thrilled with being awoken and made such a scene that the captain requested police be at the gate. However, authorities felt no crime had been committed and let Jim go on his way.


    LEVI JOHNSTON REALITY SHOW? Sarah Palin might not be the only person seeking a reality show. According to, Levi Johnston is shopping his own series this week. The outlet is reporting it will be an odd mix of shows like The Bachelor and Man vs. Wild and will take place in Alaska with Levi and his guy friends as the stars.


    DWTS TOPS MONDAY’S RATINGS! Dancing with the Stars scored over 22-million viewers to top the ratings on Monday night. However, the show’s overall viewers were down about 13 percent from last week. ABC’s Castle also nabbed its highest ratings to date.


    LOST STAR GETS MARRIED! Yunjin Kim, better known as “Sun” on Lost, got married! According to E! Online, the actress confirmed that she tied the knot in Hawaii over the weekend with manager Jeong Hyeok Park. The couple first met in 2002.


    FOXX PRODUCING SKETCH COMEDY SHOW! Jamie Foxx is working on a new sketch comedy show for FOX that will be very similar to In Living Color – which Jamie starred on in the ‘90s. According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX already picked up a pilot for the project, which will be co-produced by the creators of MadTV. As yet, there is no title for the show and no one has been cast on it.


    KELSEY GRAMMER PAYS 10 BUCKS! According to, Kelsey Grammer just paid 10 dollars to make a lawsuit over his film Swing Vote disappear. Kelsey and a host of others were sued back in August 2008 by Bradley Blakeman, who claimed the movie was his idea. The judge threw out claims against star Kevin Costner, Disney and the other defendants, leaving only Grammer. Blakeman accepted a settlement of 10 dollars from Kelsey about a week ago.


    ELLEN COMIC BOOK IN STORES! A comic book about Ellen DeGeneres’ life is coming out today, and a part of the proceeds will benefit a good cause. According to People magazine, Bluewater Productions’ Female Force comics will give part of the $3.99 cost to the Humane Society of the United States, and the story in the comic will also touch on Ellen’s love of animals and her wanting to be a veterinarian as a child. The comic is in stores now.


    JAMES FRANCO TO GET SCHOOLED AGAIN! Actor James Franco has been accepted into Yale University’s English PhD program.     Katy Perry has just revealed some information about her forthcoming sophomore album, the follow-up to her hit debut One of the Boys. MTV News recently caught up with the pop star on a red carpet, and she said that it will be released this summer. She also described the effort, saying, “It's roller-skating! It's '90s! It's Ace of Base! It's Cyndi Lauper!” Perry also said that “there might be some really cool guest appearances by some cool rappers from the West Coast.” She recently posted a picture on her Twitter of herself with Snoop Dogg, so could she be alluding to a collaboration?     We reported yesterday that Train is set to open up for Bon Jovi at the first show ever at the new Meadowlands stadium, and now, some information has come out about the second and third shows as well. Both will still feature Bon Jovi as the headliner, but opening up for the band on the second night will be Gavin DeGraw, and then on the third will be OneRepublic. The shows are set to take place on the 26th, 27th and 29th of May.




    We recently reported that Madonna was going to be releasing Material Girl, a fashion line for juniors that will be available at Macy’s later in the year. Well the pop star didn’t have to look very far to find inspiration, because according to the Associated Press, Madge’s daughter Lourdes helped her create Material Girl. About working with her daughter, Madonna said that she “respects her tastes” and that they “rarely disagree.” Material Girl is due out in the fall.




    Could Hootie & the Blowfish be making a comeback? According to the New York Post, frontman Darius Rucker, who has previously said that there wouldn’t be any more new music from Hootie, has apparently changed his mind.     Amy Winehouse has reportedly had to delay the release of her next album, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2006’s Back to Black. British paper the Daily Star is reporting that the embattled singer has decided to scrap some tracks because they were negatively directed at ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, with whom she has since reconciled. A source said, “Amy has written some of her best songs ever for this album but she now feels like they don't belong. She's not going to put out an album just because her record company wants her to, so it's back to the drawing board.”




    According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Lambert will perform at next month's Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards. The singer is also nominated for Outstanding Music Artist. The GLAAD Awards, which take place in L-A on April 17th, will pay tribute to Wanda Sykes and Drew Barrymore.




    MTV News caught up with Green Day recently and the band got to talking about their new album. The group said they’re currently in the songwriting phase for the disc, which will be the follow-up to their 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown. Singer Billie Joe Armstrong told the outlet that they are trying to get back to the basics, which the singer says at first made them sound like crap. The effort is still a work in progress and for now, fans will just have to be happy with catching the Broadway play, American Idiot, which features Green Day’s music.




    Linkin Park have released a new song via their new mobile game Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion. The application game features the spanking new tune “Blackbirds” and is a multi-player action-adventure game for fans who, after they get the app, are also treated to remixes of some of Linkin Park’s biggest hits.     Patrick Stump recently talked with MTV News about his new solo effort. The Fall Out Boy frontman told the outlet the direction of his solo disc has changed and evolved as the future of F-O-B has been less and less clear. Stump also talks about the funkiness expressed in his solo music and says that has a lot to do with his experimentation with this music.
