    SAFETYSUIT GIVE YOU A TASTE OF THEIR EP


    SafetySuit are releasing a new EP this coming week. The effort is called Hallelujah and it includes the band’s cover of the hit Leonard Cohen song by the same name. Can’t wait until next Tuesday?     JUSTIN BIEBER TO LEND HIS VOICE TO THE SIMPSONS

    Justin Bieber will join the likes of Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, U2, 50 Cent, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Lady Gaga and James Brown when he lends his voice for an episode of The Simpsons.  Bieber will be featured on the 24th season of the show.  According to Entertainment Weekly, Justin took to Twitter to announce the news but the tweet was quickly removed.  No specific air date has been set but the Bieber episode is slated to air sometime in 2013.  The Simpson’s 24th season begins on September 30th.

    ADAM LAMBERT SHARES A COVER


    Adam Lambert is currently performing in Australia. While he’s there, he’s not just singing his own tunes, he’s shaking things up with some covers as well. Adam posted a clip in which he’s singing “Is This Love” by Bob Marley & The Wailers. The former American Idol contestant put his own spin on the 1978 song. Head to Twitter.com/AdamLambert for more.

    KELLY CLARKSON COVERS CARLY RAE JEPSEN


    Kelly Clarkson covered Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” during her show in Hershey, Pennsylvania on August 17th. Before she sang the song, the singer jokingly said, “I’m still slightly confused, because I’m always like, ‘Boy you better call me or just leave it alone,’ I don’t get the maybe part.”  Carly shared a fan-filmed video of Kelly’s cover over on Twitter.  Follow her at Twitter.com/CarlyRaeJepsen.

    ADAM LEVINE IS NOT MARRYING NICKELBACK


    It was announced this week that Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger of Nickelback are engaged. And Maroon 5’s Adam Levine wants to set the record straight that although his name is similar to the Canadian singer’s, he is not the one marrying Nickelback’s lead singer.     CHRISTINA PERRI DATING BROADWAY ACTOR


    Christina Perri looks to be dating Steve Kazee, a Broadway star. The singer tweeted four photos recently of Steve and herself, smiling. She captioned the photo calling him the “best boyfriend in the universe.”

    THE WANTED TO JOIN JUSTIN BIEBER ON TOUR


    The Wanted will join Justin Bieber on some dates on his Believe Tour.  The U-K boy band told MTV News that they will indeed open for Bieber on select dates of his trek with Max George explaining that they would like to do more dates with the 18-year old singer, but they have their own tour dates set for later this year in South America and other territories.  The Wanted are nominated for their first Video Music Award in the Best New Artist category this year. 

    • TIDBIT: The Wanted are still working on their debut album.  They have expressed interest in collaborating with Bieber, Chris Brown and LMFAO on the effort.  

    LEONA LEWIS IS IN “TROUBLE” WITH CHILDISH GAMBINO


    Leona Lewis has release her new single, “Trouble,” featuring Childish Gambino.  The song is the second single off her upcoming album, Glassheart, which is due in October.

    TAYLOR SWIFT’S NEW HOUSE? NOT ACTUALLY HERS.


    Earlier this month, news broke that Taylor Swift had bought a house in Massachusetts to be closer to boyfriend Conor KennedyPerez Hilton now reports that the house wasn’t purchased by Taylor, but instead by a New York hedge fund manager.  Taylor and Conor were first seen together in July and confirmed they were dating earlier this month.

    FOO FIGHTERS TO ROCK THE VOTE

    The Foo Fighters have announced that they are teaming up with Rock the Vote for a special concert on September 5th in Charlotte, North Carolina. The show is part of Rock the Vote’s bus stop tour, which hopes to register 1.5-million young voters before the November elections. Other artist such as Jack Johnson, Asher Roth and Motion City Soundtrack have also committed to appearing at various stops on the tour as well.     LENNY KRAVITZ TO BE AMERICAN IDOL JUDGE?

    It seems that everyone is in the running to be an American Idol judge these days. The who’s who of potential judges ranges from P. Diddy and Nicki Minaj to Nick Jonas and now Lenny Kravitz. Singer Mariah Carey is supposedly pushing for Kravitz to join the show, even going as far as posting a picture of the two on her Twitter account with a caption that reads, “@AmericanIdol What's going on? Need the info!! What about this combo?”  So far, it appears that Nicki Minaj has the inside track for the position, but with Steven Tyler’s departure from the panel many are saying that a rocker such as Kravitz would be a welcome addition and bring some much needed energy to the aging program. We’ll keep you posted.

    FOO FIGHTERS GET NOISE COMPLAINT FROM NEIGHBORS… FOUR MILES AWAY

    Apparently not everyone loves the music of Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters.  According to NME.com, the group played at the Tennent’s Vital festival in Belfast, Ireland earlier this week and drew complaints from local residents… who live four miles away. BBC News spoke with some of the residents of the area like Eileen Fee, who lives about a mile away from the concert area. Fee said it was so loud that her “windows shook.” She went on to add, “I just thought I was at the concert, that’s how loud it was. It was really impossible to do anything else at home.” We’re thinking if the sound was that good she should have sold some tickets to fans. The Foo Fighters will be performing at this weekend’s Reading and Leeds festivals.

    ROLL UP FOR THE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR AGAIN

    Beatles fans have a chance to roll up for the Magical Mystery Tour once again.  The classic 1967 film has been restored and is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray later this year.  Along with the original flick, the package includes newly-filmed interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and other cast and crew members plus a director’s commentary from Paul.  It hits shelves on October 8th and you can learn more at TheBeatles.com.

    AVRIL LAVIGNE AND CHAD KROEGER ARE ENGAGED!

    Surprise!  Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger are engaged!  Yes, People magazine is reporting that Kroeger proposed back on August 8th, complete with a 14-carat diamond ring.  A friend of Lavigne told People magazine that the two started dating after spending time writing together.  The couple has not confirmed the news but Chad did retweet a message of congrats from his bandmates.  This will be the second marriage for Lavigne, who was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley for three years.  They divorced in 2009.  It will be Kroeger’s first marriage. 

    P!NK DOES VH1 STORYTELLERS


    P!nk recorded her Vh1 Storytellers Monday night and we’ve got some exclusive info on what went down during the show. The singer kicked things off with her tune “Rockstar” and went through her other hits like “Sober,” “Blow Me (One Last Kiss),” “Dear Mr. President” and “So What.” The singer told stories about her husband, Carey Hart, her crazy past, and about a friend who’d past away from a heroin overdose. During the set, the likes of Nate Ruess, Lily Allen and Butch Walker came onstage to help P!nk perform. Vh1 Storytellers: P!nk airs Tuesday November 13th at 11 PM Eastern.

    • TIDBIT: Nate and P!nk wrote a song together off her new album called “Just Give Me a Reason.” After the pair performed it, the crowd gave them a standing ovation.
    • TIDBIT: P!nk’s mom was in the audience for the show and the singer gave her several shout outs.

    TAYLOR SWIFT TO PERFORM AT THE 2012 MTV VMAS


    Taylor Swift has been tapped to play at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. At the show, she’ll be performing a new song from her upcoming a fourth album, Red, for the first time. It’s also been announced that the “Fierce Five” U-S women’s gymnastics team will be presenters this year. Make sure to check out the 2012 MTV VMAs September 6th at 8 PM Eastern on MTV.

    THE WANTED TO PLAY AT JFK AIRPORT WEDNESDAY


    The Wanted are the next band to perform during JetBlue’s Live from T5 concert series, where groups perform at Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. The band will surely be performing their hit, “Chasing The Sun.”

    KARMIN TO DO A SPANISH ALBUM?


    Karmin are currently in Mexico City for the Fanta Irresistible Awards and they’ve been taken by the city. They tweeted that they’d love to live there for a month and learn Spanish and put out a Spanish language album. What do you think? Would you buy a Spanish album from Karmin?   

    HOT CHELLE RAE SHOW LOVE FOR OWL CITY

    FOO FIGHTERS, SOUNDGARDEN, FOSTER THE PEOPLE FEATURED ON ROCK BAND BLITZ

    The Foo Fighters and Soundgarden are among the latest artists to take part in the Rock Band video game trend. Harmonix, the creator of the Rock Band video game brand, announced that they will be releasing Rock Band Blitz later this month. The game will feature 25 playable tracks by acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foster the People, Blink 182, Pink and Maroon 5. The game will be available to PlayStation gamers via the PlayStation Network on August 28th and Xbox gamers on August 29th.

    MARIAH CAREY DROPS VIDEO TEASER


    Mariah Carey has released a short teaser clip from her new video for "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," which features Rick Ross and Meek Mill. In the clip, Carey stands in front of a glittering wall as she sings about overcoming adversity. A chinchilla-clad Rick Ross sits front row as Meek enters a boxing ring, hoping to take down his competition, a fitting metaphor for the song. The video was directed by her Carey’s hubby, Nick Cannon, and the single was co-produced by Bryan-Michael Cox and Carey's longtime collaborator, Jermaine Dupri.     GRAMMY NOMINATIONS CONCERT MAKES MOVE TO NASHVILLE

    The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night is set to take place in Nashville for the first time ever. The event, which officially kicks off GRAMMY season, is usually held just outside of Los Angeles and features performances from past GRAMMY winners and nominees. It’s also the time when the nominations for the upcoming awards show are revealed. This year’s nominations show will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on CBS, December 5th. The GRAMMYS are set for February 10th, 2013 from the Staples Center in L-A.

    FAITH HILL NEARLY RECORDED POP SMASH “RUMOUR HAS IT”


    It sounds like Faith Hill came pretty close to snatching one of this year’s biggest pop hits from Adele. “Rumour Has It” co-writer Ryan Tedder said in a recent interview that when he played the song for Faith before it was released, she said, “I wanna cut that. I’ll cut that right now!” Unfortunately for Faith, Adele had already claimed the song, which could have been a good fit for Faith’s soulful voice.  Faith covers “Come Home,” a song by Tedder’s band One Republic, on her forthcoming album, due later this year.

    RUMOR HAS IT THE BABY’S DUE SOON


    Rumors are all over the Internet that the baby of singing sensation Adele and boyfriend Simon Konecki is due sometime next month.  Now, according to Perez Hilton, Simon may have spilled the beans and accidentally confirmed it.  In a new interview, Simon said “The baby is coming so soon. I’m very excited. Adele is doing well and we can’t wait.”  The couple announced they were having their first child together in June.

    BIEBER’S OPPONENTS NOW DEFENDING HIM


    International superstar Justin Bieber incited a national debate in Canada earlier this month when he said his Aboriginal Canadian heritage entitled him to free gas.  The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples’ national chief Betty Ann Lavallée issued a statement on August 3rd that Bieber was promoting misconceptions, but she now says Justin has nothing to apologize for.  Celebuzz reports Betty issued another statement that Justin made a mistake, but he can be a role model now for Canadians of Aboriginal descent and help the organization educate the public this fall with a national discussion and debate. So far, there’s no word on whether Justin will participate.

    SUMMER LOVE CONTINUES FOR TAYLOR SWIFT


    The web is buzzing over pictures from this weekend of Taylor Swift smooching with her new beau, Conor Kennedy. The two were caught lip locked by photogs near the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. According to E! News, Taylor and the 18-year-old attended the wedding of Conor’s cousin, Kyle, and on Sunday, the two attended mass.

    HOW TAYLOR SWIFT KEEPS IT HEALTHY


    Taylor Swift’s workout regimen is strong and steady! With a new album in the works and a new boyfriend by her side, a good workout regimen is a top priority in her busy schedule. But how does the country star stay fit while juggling work and a personal life? According to Us Weekly, she makes a point the run every day. She told the magazine, “For me, working out is not so I can get skinny.  It's so that I'm not panting on stage.” Another important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for Taylor is to let go of negativity. She says keeping a journal is a good way to de-stress when times are tough. Finally, Taylor eats healthy – and leaves room to cheat on a diet. She keeps her energies high with salad, yogurt and healthy sandwiches during the week but indulges with baked goods, burgers and lattes on the weekends.

     

    THE FRAY ARE WORKING ON NEW SONGS


    The Fray are in the studio creating some new songs! How do we know? Well, the group posted a screen shot over on Twitter of a sound editing session they were working on, and Isaac Slade said they cannot wait for everyone to hear their new songs.

    LENNON’S KILLER UP FOR PAROLE


    Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon, will receive another parole hearing. According to Reuters, this marks the 57-year-old murderer’s seventh time in front of a parole board since 2000.  In 1981, the year after he killed the Beatle legend, Chapman was sentenced to 20 years to life for second-degree murder.  The New York State Department of Corrections holds parole hearings every two years.  Yoko Ono has previously lobbied the parole board to keep Chapman in prison, saying she fears for her own safety and the safety of John’s sons, Julian and Sean

    • TIDBIT: In 2000, a member of the Correctional Association of New York told the Associated Press that “if Jesus Christ returned to earth for the sole purpose of decreeing that it would be appropriate to release Mark Chapman, the parole board wouldn’t be willing to take the political heat they would get by doing it.”
    • TIDBIT: On December 8th, 1980, after the singer signed an album for him, Chapman shot Lennon four times in the back outside of the John’s apartment in New York City.

    LENNON’S TOOTH IN ART


    Plenty of people have made sculptures in tribute to John Lennon, but one Canadian artist has a very unique piece she’ll be putting on hers.  According to the Edmonton Sun, Kirsten Zuk will create her art around a chunk of the singer’s tooth.  Her brother, a dentist, bought the tooth in a November auction for about 30-thousand dollars.  Kristen put a piece of the molar in her clay model of Lennon, which will be on display during Edmonton, Canada’s Fringe Festival, which is going on now.     • TIDBIT: Kristen’s brother said, “Lennon gave his tooth to a fan in good spirit so I wanted to do a few things that would raise awareness of the charity Smile Train, so we are asking people that come to view the sculpture… to consider making a donation which helps children with cleft lip and palate.”

    IS NICKI MINAJ THE NEXT IDOL JUDGE?

    On Monday, Nicki Minaj tweeted that she had a surprise for her followers, and insiders are saying it’s a new job on the American Idol judges’ panel.  According to Perez Hilton, Nicki still has to sign a few more documents but sources tell the site “it is happening” and she is “100% confirmed to judge American Idol.”  If the deal goes through, Nicki will fill the seat left by Steven Tyler and join new judge Mariah Carey for this upcoming season.

    GREEN DAY RAISE THE IRE OF ANGRY BIRDS

    Not content to dominate just the music industry with their upcoming trio of albums, the stage with their American Idiot musical, and the silver screen with not one, but two documentaries later this year, Green Day are now aiming to conquer the video game world as well. The group has announced that they are teaming up with the makers of the wildly popular Angry Birds Friends for a special version of the game. The three members will appear as pigs in ten new levels in addition to having an exclusive song titled “Troublemaker” appear in the game. No word on when it will be available but we’re guessing it will be sometime near the release of the band’s record, Uno, on September 25th.

    LAURYN HILL DENIES OPRAH

    Oprah Winfrey is going after the biggest stars and newsmakers for her show Oprah’s Next Chapter.  She recently had Rihanna, Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, 50 Cent, the Kardashians, and Paris Jackson.  The talk show host wanted to get Lauryn Hill, who is in trouble with the IRS, but the former Fugees singer denied her request for an interview.  Hill is facing three years in jail for intentionally failing to file tax returns in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  O has also been trying to land Beyonce, with no luck yet.   

    BIEBER, GAGA AND MORE HELP BEY TO CELEBRATE WORLD HUMANITY DAY


    Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama are helping Beyonce by supporting the global campaign of World Humanity Day.  The campaign asks that on Sunday, people help others through such acts as making sandwiches for the homeless or volunteering at a local charity. The goal is to share one-billion messages of hope.  Other artists lending a helping hand including Rihanna, Shakira, Jay-Z, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

    NICKELBACK PREMIERE “TRYING NOT TO LOVE YOU” VIDEO


    On Friday, Nickelback premiered the video for their song “Trying Not To Love You.”  The clip stars Jason Alexander and Brooke Burns getting flirty in a coffee shop. The tune is the band’s fifth single off their chart-topping album, Here and Now. It’s worth heading to Facebook.com/Nickelback to see the clip, where Brooke rolls around in coffee beans in a bikini.

    JONAS BROS. “CULTIVATING” NEW MUSIC

    It’s been two years since The Jonas Brothers released their album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, and fans may not have to wait too much longer for more new music.  In recent interviews with MTV News, Joe Jonas said the brothers have been recording for three or four months, and Nick Jonas said he’s been listening through their old albums for inspiration.  Joe went on to say that he cannot confirm a release date, but he believes it will be before the end of 2012.  Both Nick and Joe will be on upcoming reality shows – Nick on the E! show Living with Jonas and Joe on The CW’s The Next.

    JOHN MAYER AND KATY PERRY GET FRIENDLY BY THE POOL


    John Mayer and Katy Perry were caught kissing and cuddling at a Beverly Hills pool party earlier this month. The photos made their way to Us Magazine, and show the new couple laughing, kissing and holding each other. Mayer has previously dated Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

    MARIAH CAREY AND NO DOUBT TO KICK OFF THE NFL SEASON


    According to Rap-Up.com, Mariah Carey will help kick off the NFL season next month.  The singer will perform during the pregame festivities before the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants game on Wednesday, September 5th at 6:30 on NBC and the NFL Network.  Carey will perform her new single, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” in front of 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City. No Doubt will also perform their new single, “Settle Down,” on the telecast. 

    RIHANNA OPENED UP TO OPRAH

    Rihanna’s highly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey aired last night.  The singer opened up to Oprah about the fateful night in February 2009 when her life was changed forever.  An emotional Rihanna fought back tears while recalling her breakup with Chris Brown, saying, “I lost my best friend. Like everything I knew was switched. Switched in a night. And I couldn’t control that.”  She added that she couldn’t help but feel bad for Brown, explaining how she felt “protective” of the singer while everyone thought he was a “monster.”  Rihanna said Chris needed help and he went out and got it. Rihanna performed in Tokyo, Japan over the weekend.          

    LENNOX TURNS DOWN U-K’S THE VOICE


    The Voice is not just a hit show here in America, over in the U-K, the series premiered its first season to very strong ratings as well.  However, the ratings dropped off a bit so producers for the British version have been seeking a new judge for their second season.  After seeing Annie Lennox perform at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony last week, they set their sights on her.  However, according to the Mirror, she quickly declined.  Her rep told the paper, “Annie has been vocal in the past about her distaste for talent shows so it would have been somewhat hypocritical to take part.”  Read more at Mirror.co.uk.

    LADY GAGA TO WORK WITH LINDSAY LOHAN?


    It’s been rumored that Lady Gaga has asked Lindsay Lohan to star in her next music video. If Lohan agrees, the visual will be for the lead single from Gaga’s upcoming album ARTPOP. While a rep for Lindsay has not confirmed the chatter, we hope the collaboration does indeed happen. Check out MTVNews.com for more.

    ELLIE GOULDING’S SLOW AND STEADY CLIMB UP THE CHARTS


    Ellie Goulding’s breakthrough hit, “Lights,” is up three spots to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  The song has been steadily rising the chart for a year and peaks at the number two this week, just behind Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut single, “Call Me Maybe,” which has topped the chart for nine straight weeks.  “Lights” is the title track off Goulding’s debut album, which was released back in 2010.  The song has sold over 2.7-million copies and has slowly and steadily inched up the charts in the U-S, much to her surprise.  The ironic twist is that U-K singer is now focused on her new single, titled “Anything Could Happen,” which was released last week.  It is the first single off her new album, Halcyon, which arrives on October 9th

    NOW 43 EXPECTED TO TOP BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART

    The latest installment of the Now That's What I Call Music! franchise, Now 43, is expected to top the Billboard album chart next week.  According to Billboard, the effort is expected to sell between 110-to-120-thousand copies.  It would mark the 16th number one album for the series.  The last one to hit the top of the charts was Now 37, which arrived back in February 2011.  The Now 43 album includes Katy Perry’s “Part of Me,” Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” and other contemporary hits. 

    JORDIN SPARKS EYES IN THE HEIGHTS

    Jordin Sparks made her Broadway debut in the musical, In The Heights, back in 2010.  There have been rumors swirling about a possible feature film version of the Tony Award-winning play and Sparks told us she would jump at the opportunity to play “Nina” on the big screen. Jordin Sparks will make her feature film debut opposite the late-Whitney Houston in Sparkle.  The flick also stars Omar Epps and Derek Luke and features a cameo from Cee Lo Green.  It opens in theaters on August 17th.

    • TIDBIT: In The Heights won four Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Choreography.   

    JESSICA SIMPSON’S FATHER ARRESTED

    Jessica Simpson’s father spent a night in jail last week. According to PerezHilton.com, Joe Simpson, a 54-year-old minister, was booked for driving under the influence on August 4th. It’s his first offense, so the celebrity dad will likely face no more than a fine if charges are filed. Police pulled him over on Ventura Boulevard in L-A at around 10 at night, citing erratic driving. He posted bail the following morning.

    BEASTIE BOYS FILE SUIT AGAINST MONSTER ENERGY DRINK

    Last Tuesday, the will of the late AdamMCAYauch was filed in a New York court. One of the stipulations of his will was that none of his artistic property, including his music, could be used in any advertisements of any sort. Later on that day, the Beastie Boys filed a lawsuit against Monster Energy Drink for doing just that. MTV News is reporting that Monster Energy Drink was never granted a license to use the tracks "Sabotage," "So What'cha Want" and "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" in their 2012 Ruckus in the Rockies promo video and are now faced with the prospect of paying hefty damages for the alleged copyright infringement.

    ALANIS MORISSETTE ENTERS IDOL TALKS


    Alanis Morissette is the latest celebrity to be linked to the American Idol judging panel. In an interview on Thursday, the singer did not confirm nor deny that she may be in talks with the singing show. Mariah Carey is already confirmed to fill one of the judging chairs for season 12, which starts in January on FOX.

    P!NK ADMITS HER MOM GROUNDED HER FOR WATCHING MTV


    Pink’s face and music may be plastered all over MTV nowadays, but there was a time in her life when she wasn’t even allowed to watch the channel. The pop singer admitted to People magazine, “My mom never used to let me watch MTV as a little girl. I would watch it anyway, but she would also try and ground me. I would just sneak out my window and go to someone’s house that had MTV, so to be on MTV is quite ironic.” Pink will be performing a new song from her upcoming album at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, airing September 6th at 8 PM.

    PINK HAS EMINEM, FUN. FRONTMAN FEATURED ON NEW ALBUM

    Pink is teaming up with Eminem and Fun. frontman Nate Ruess on her upcoming album, The Truth About Love. Pink and Em are no strangers, having worked together before on the rapper’s Recovery song “Won’t Back Down.” Pink previously announced Lily Allen as a feature on the album as well. The Truth About Love hits stores September 18th.

    AMY WINEHOUSE EX-HUSBAND GOES INTO COMA


    The late Amy Winhouse’s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is in a coma after multiple organ failure due to binge drinking. NME reports that Fielder-Civil was found unresponsive, choking on vomit Wednesday afternoon and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors induced the coma to better diagnose and treat his condition.

    ONE DIRECTION’S LIAM PAYNE TWEETS ABOUT KIDNEY RECOVERY

    One Direction member Liam Payne recently tweeted about his new, healthy kidney, saying, “Just been for an ultrasound on my kidney turns out its fixed from when I was a baby! So now I have two.” The singer revealed his lifelong health problems last year, having gone through countless hospital tests as an infant only to stump doctors as to what was wrong with him. They finally discovered that one of Payne’s kidneys was scarred, but a recent turn of events showed two healthy kidneys in his ultrasound. Upon hearing the news, bandmate Niall Horan joked via Twitter, “Well if ur kidneys working now…comin for a pint? Ahahaah I joke.”

    LADY GAGA ON HER NAME


    Long before Lady Gaga was a household name, we caught up with the singer, who told us the story of how she came up with her moniker from the classic Queen song “Radio Gaga”.  Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball Tour resumes in Sofia, Bulgaria on Tuesday.

    CARLY RAE JEPSEN IS NUMBER ONE FOR NINTH STRAIGHT WEEK


    Carly Rae Jepsen’s "Call Me Maybe" scores its ninth week atop the Hot 100 chart.  According to Billboard, the song is now the longest running chart-topper of 2012, passing Gotye’s "Somebody That I Used to Know," which was number one for eight straight weeks earlier this year. Ellie Goulding leaps three spots to number two with “Lights,” Flo Rida’s "Whistle" is up one spot to number three, Katy Perry drops two notches to number four with “Wide Awake,” and Maroon 5 also fall two spots to number five with “Payphone,” featuring Wiz Khalifa

    • TIDBIT: Gotye's former number one hit, “Somebody That I Used to Know,” holds at number six and is the first track to surpass six-million downloads this year.   
    • TIDBIT: American Idol-winner Phillip Phillips’ debut single, “Home,” rockets 74 spots to number nine.  It tops the Digital Songs chart, selling over 228-thousand copies this week, thanks to NBC, who are used the song as the theme for the Olympics coverage of women’s gymnastics.

    FLO RIDA TALKS 2012


    Flo Rida recently wrapped a short tour with B.o.B and Cee Lo Green and now, the rapper is eyeing more tour dates.  We caught up with the Miami-based MC, who told us to expect a lot more live shows and singles soon.  Flo Rida’s latest album, Wild Ones, has sold over 70-thousand copies since its release four weeks ago.  He will take the stage in Orlando, Florida on August 18th

    FUN. QUESTION “COLBERT BUMP” BEFORE FESTIVAL

    Comedy Central personality Stephen Colbert will be hosting his music festival, StePhest Colbchella ‘012: RocktAugustFest, today (8/10) aboard the U-S-S Intrepid in New York City. He’s scored some pretty impressive acts for the occasion, including Grandmaster Flash, Grizzly Bear, the Flaming Lips and Santigold, although the band making the biggest splash is Fun. Vocalist Nate Ruess told MTV News backstage at Lollapalooza that he had never even heard of the infamous “Colbert Bump” until the news staff told him about it, saying, “Is that a real thing? It sounds like you’re going to do coke with Stephen Colbert,” instead, preferring “Glenn Beck Dip” or some “Rush Limbaugh Vicodin.”

    • TIDBIT: The “Colbert Bump” is the phenomenon where people who appear on The Colbert Report seem to get a large boost in popularity.

    NIVEA DROPS RIHANNA, CLAIMS SHE’S “TOO SEXY”

    Nivea CEO Stefan Heidrenreich has dropped Rihanna as their spokesperson, claiming she’s “too sexy” to continue representing the skincare brand. Heidrenreich said, “I do not understand how to associate the core brand of Nivea with Rihanna. [She] is a no-go.” The 24-year-old singer first started appearing in Nivea commercials in 2011, posing nude for a series of ads commemorating their 100th anniversary, and the company also sponsored her Loud tour. Rihanna responded to the CEO’s decision by tweeting his picture and writing, “No caption necessary.”

    Pink has been named the newest face of Covergirl. She joins the likes of Taylor Swift, Sofia Vergara, Ellen DeGeneres and Queen Latifah to help rep the brand. Of the new job, Pink says it’s an honor to join a group of women who’ve inspired her. This looks to be a great year for Pink, whose new album, The Truth About Love, comes out September 18th.

    THE SCRIPT HOLD GOLD


    The Script were hanging out near the Olympic Village in London Monday morning to perform on The Today Show. While there, the band got to hold an Olympic gold medal and immediately put of picture of if on their Twitter account. The band played their tune “Hall of Fame” off their upcoming album, #3.     J-LO REP INSISTS BREAKUP RUMORS ARE FALSE


    A Jennifer Lopez representative putting some rumors to rest, saying reports of a breakup between her and Casper Smart are patently false. J-Lo’s publicity team told FOX News Latino that the two are still together, despite rumors last week that they were on thin ice. The pair was spotted with the singer’s two kids over the weekend, appearing better than ever. Last week, speculation arose from a number of sources, including E! News and Celebuzz, that the couple was in limbo after Smart was seen outside an adult toy shop.

    ELTON JOHN REIGNITES FEUD WITH MADONNA

    Sunday night was all right for fighting, according to Elton John. E! Online reports the singer slammed Madonna over the weekend, saying “her career’s over” and that recent performances make her look “like a fairground stripper.” This isn’t the first time Sir Elton has taken jabs at Madonna. He’s been accusing her of lip syncing since 2004. His beef with her may be reignited over Lady Gaga, whom Madonna appears to have dismissed as unoriginal. Gaga is the godmother of John’s 19-month-old son.

    IS THERE ONE WOMAN FOR ONE DIRECTION’S LIAM?

    Rumors flew around the Internet this weekend that One Direction’s Liam Payne was engaged to girlfriend Danielle Peazer.  Liam corrected all the reports via his Twitter and poked fun at a U-K newspaper that reported on the story.  Liam and Danielle are currently living together though, with Liam saying “I can't have it too messy or she'll have a go at me.”

    RIHANNA GIVES OPRAH A TOUR OF BARBADOS


    Oprah Winfrey joined Rihanna in Barbados over the weekend to shoot some footage for the singer’s appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter.  RiRi drove Oprah around the island in a jeep and showed off her old stomping grounds.  Both O and Rihanna posted photos on Instagram to share the news with fans.  You can see Rihanna and Oprah on the August 19th episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter

    • TWEET OF THE DAY!  Our tweet of the day comes from Rihanna, who took to Twitter and wrote: “Life without purpose is vanity.”  Sounds like the singer has been hanging out with Oprah Winfrey. 

    JUSTIN BIEBER, USHER AND FRANK OCEAN WIN GOLD AT MTV’S SUMMER JAM GAMES

    MTV News held their own version of the Olympics, asking fans to vote on their favorite Summer Jam in five categories: hip-hop, R&B, EDM, rock and pop.   Usher’s “Lemme See” featuring Rick Ross wins the gold in the hop-hop category, beating G.O.O.D. Music’s “Mercy.”  Frank Ocean stands on the top of the R&B podium with “Thinkin Bout You,” Ellie Goulding wins the Electronic Dance Music category with “Lights” and No Doubt goes gold with their latest single “Settle Down.”  It’s no surprise that voters chose Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” featuring Big Sean as the pop summer jam, besting One Direction’s "One Thing."  The two songs grabbed 95 percent of the vote.  Head to MTV.com/News for more. 

    NICKELBACK TO BRING AWESOMENESS TO LAND DOWN UNDER

    Nickelback just announced that they will be competing for the title of “Thunder From Down Under” when they bring their powerful and spectacular live performance to Australia and New Zealand this November after completing their European tour. The band hasn’t toured the two countries since 2009 and fans are eagerly waiting for the end of their three-year Nickelback drought. Tickets go on sale August 15th and can be bought at Nickelback.com.

    GOTYE MUM ON TRANSEXUAL RUMORS


    The Internet is ablaze with rumors that pop star Gotye might have had a sex change before his ascension to the top of the charts with his hit “Somebody That I Used To Know,” with some people suggesting the song might even be about the singer talking about his former female self. In an recent interview with E!, he was asked about the allegations, to which he simply responded that it was “fun” to let people speculate about the rumors and would neither confirm or deny the anything. Gotye was recently forced to strongly deny allegations of his own death via Twitter when CNN erroneously reported he had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    BONO TURNS BACK ON SIMON COWELL

    The Irish Sun is reporting that U2 frontman Bono is caught in the middle of a nasty war between American Idol and the U-S version of The X-Factor, with both fighting over him to join their panel of judges. The fight intensified in recent weeks when departing Idol judge Jennifer Lopez let it be known that Bono would be her pick to replace her.  The singer has apparently turned a deaf ear to the numerous offers from both shows and has told people close to him that he’s not interested in being a talent judge because he’s a rock star and he’s fully committed to U2 and making their next album a masterpiece.

    LINKIN PARK ON ONE OF THE BEST BANDS YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF


    Linkin Park and Incubus have garnered a lot of publicity for their upcoming Honda Civic Tour. The two groups represent opposite ends of the alternative music spectrum and have decided to bring along a band on the tour that is somewhere in the middle of both their sounds. Mutemath is a rock group that hails from New Orleans and according to Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, they’re the best band you haven’t heard of yet. You can catch Mutemath, Linkin Park and Incubus when the Honda Civic Tour, which kicks off this weekend, comes to your town.

    Ricky Berens was one of the U.S. swimmers who won Gold in the four-by-200-meter freestyle relay on Tuesday.  And while his teammates like MICHAEL PHELPS and RYAN LOCHTE still had races left, that was Ricky's final Olympic event.

    So he decided to celebrate all those years of training and eating healthy by going to McDonald's, and ordering a TON of crap.

    Surprisingly, it's only about 3,330 calories worth of food...it looks like it should be a lot more.

    He tweeted a photo beforehand . . . and after, he admitted he couldn't finish it all.

    Stephen Colbert is holding a rock concert. Comedy Central’s favorite fake conservative is calling the gig StePhest Colbchella ‘012: RocktAugustFest. Besides the silly name, the festival has some serious bands lined up for the gig including Fun., Santigold, Flaming Lips and Grandmaster Flash.     THE WANTED MAKE CRAZY DEMANDS ON TOUR


    The Wanted continue their crazy antics in the latest installment of their online video series, Wanted Wednesday. Band member Jay McGuiness shows off a few quirky items from their tour rider, like a bottle of hairspray with a note wishing bandmate Tom Parker a good hair day, and some ham with a note labeling it “mystery meat.” The gag items don’t quite rival Van Halen’s infamous M-and-M demands, but the Wanted boys still seem to find fun on the road. 

    DAUGHTRY FIND HARMONY ON THE ROAD


    Daughtry are singing their way along their current tour, posting a video from the tour bus of an impressive four-part harmony among band members. The group sings along to Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman” in the clip, which frontman Chris Daughtry tweeted a link to on Thursday. Daughtry continue their tour through October.

    SPICE GIRLS REHEARSING FOR OLYMPIC GIG?


    The Spice Girls are reportedly rehearsing for an Olympic closing ceremony performance. London’s Sunday Mirror columnist Dean Piper tweeted that the girls are currently in London gearing up for the gig. Rumors have surrounded the possibility of an appearance by the group in recent months, but event organizers have kept mum on the show’s lineup.

    NELLY FURTADO UNVEILS NEW TRACK


    Nelly Furtado is giving fans a taste of her upcoming album, The Spirit Indestructible. The singer posted the new track, “Parking Lot,” online on Thursday. The song is rumored to be the third single off the album, after “Big Hoops (The Bigger the Better)” and the record’s title track. The Spirit Indestructible hits shelves on September 11th.

    BEYONCE TO STAR IN, DIRECT DOCUMENTARY


    Beyonce is reportedly lined up to direct and star in a documentary about her life. The L-A Times reports that the film will feature concert and behind-the-scenes footage of the songstress to give fans an inside look at her life. Bey is rumored to be in talks with film execs, having posted a message Wednesday that she will be making a big announcement on August 19th.

    Christina Aguilera is standing up to hunger in a new public service announcement for Yum! Brand’s World Hunger Relief Campaign. The Voice coach has been the global spokesperson for the cause since 2009 and will lead the new campaign to benefit other hunger relief organizations.

    KATY PERRY CAUGHT OUT WITH JOHN MAYER


    Photos of Katy Perry and John Mayer are surfacing online after an intimate date at an L-A hotspot. Perry’s high-profile divorce from British comedian Russell Brand was recently finalized and it seems the pop star is moving on quickly. Us Weekly reports that the pair was cuddling and holding hands across the table at dinner.
    SELENA GOMEZ SAYS SHE IS LUCKY TO HAVE JUSTIN BIEBER


    Selena Gomez is admitting that she is a lucky girl to have boyfriend Justin Bieber. The actress and singer put break-up rumors to rest in a recent Teen Vogue interview, saying that her relationship with the Biebs is “really fun.” Gomez recently wrapped filming on the upcoming Harmony Korine flick, Spring Breakers, which is due out next year.

    MILEY CYRUS BECOMES VICTIM OF SHOOTING HOAX

    Miley Cyrus must have been surprised when armed police officers showed up at her Los Angeles home to respond to a false shooting claim. Emergency services received a tip that there were shots fired at an attempted break-in at her home on Wednesday night, however the property was found to be secure with no disturbances. The hoax is currently under investigation.

    MARIAH CAREY DROPS NEW “TRIUMPHANT” SINGLE! 

    Just days after signing on to be a judge on American Idol next season, Mariah Carey has released her new single to radio.  It’s called “Triumphant (Get ’Em)” and features Rick Ross and Meek Mill.  The song will be on the diva’s 14th studio album, which will likely arrive towards the end of the year or in early 2013.  “Triumphant (Get ’Em)” will be released to digital retailers on Tuesday.

    LOLLAPALOOZA KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

    Lollapalooza started back in 1991 as a farewell tour for the band Jane’s Addiction. It featured mostly alternative acts at that time, but over the years has turned into the concert event of the summer with an all-encompassing lineup featuring almost every form of music imaginable, with 2012 promising one of the best lineups in recent memory. Scheduled to appear are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Black Sabbath, Jack White, Florence and the Machine, Frank Ocean, fun. and over 100 other musical acts. For those of us unable to make the trek to Chicago for the festivities we have good news, you’ll be able to watch the whole event live on Lollapalooza’s very own Youtube channel.     TAYLOR SWIFT WINS THE HEARTS OF THE KENNEDY FAMILY

    It looks like Taylor Swift is a household favorite at the Kennedys’, after reports circulated that she is dating Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s son - Conor Kennedy. According to People magazine, a few of Conor’s family members spoke highly of Taylor. Rory Kennedy, Conor’s aunt, says the singer is awesome and is a great friend to all of them. Conor’s grandmother, Ethel Kennedy, admitted that “they should be so lucky” if the couple were to ever take the relationship to the next level.

    DIERKS BENTLEY REFLECTS ON THE SUCCESS OF HIS #1 HITS

    Diersks Bentley still can’t fathom the fact that he has had ten number one singles, due to the recent success of his latest hit, “5-1-5-0.” The singer admits to Billboard that “it’s something that [he’s] never dreamed of,” and “it all feels like a blur.” Dierks’ garnered his first number one in 2003 with “What Was I Thinkin,’” and he can remember when he used “to write songs in this old converted firehouse.” Dierks’ follow-up single to “5-1-5-0” will be “Tip It On Back,” which is the first single the singer will release that he hasn’t written. Dierks thinks it’s “a fun process trying to find a song that fits who you are what you’re trying to say.”

    CARRIE UNDERWOOD IS A PERFECT FIT FOR AEROSMITH RECORD


    Country music fans have something to look forward to from Aerosmith’s next album. The band recorded a song called “Beautiful” with the help of Carrie Underwood, and guitarist Joe Perry tells Rolling Stone that the singer’s voice matches frontman Steven Tyler’s really well. He also adds that the blend “doesn’t sound forced – it was just right.” The classic rock band’s next album, Music From Another Dimension, is due on November 6th.

    BRAD & CARRIE TAKE ON THE CMA AWARDS ONCE AGAIN

    Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are back at it again, as the two will co-host the 46th Annual Country Music Awards. This is the dynamic duo’s fifth consecutive year entertaining the country music world.  It seems like the two are already getting into the hosting spirit. Carrie tweeted that she just caught Brad in her make-up chair and joked that he was such a diva! The CMA Awards will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 1st. The show will broadcast live on ABC at 8 PM Eastern.

    KATY PERRY MIGHT MARRY AGAIN


    Katy Perry’s marriage to Russell Brand ended in heartbreak, but that doesn’t mean the singer won’t marry again. In an interview with Elle magazine, the Katy said that she’ll “never say never” and that she’ll “let love take the lead on that.” Check out the full interview from Perry when the September issue of Elle hits newsstands on August 14th.

    CEE LO GREEN JOINS ADAM LEVINE IN NEW FILM


    Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine are currently shooting a film alongside Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo called Can a Song Save Your Life?  Green has a small role in the film, playing “Trouble Gum,” a once down-and-out musician who is now basking in the warmth of his success after being discovered and cleaned up by a music producer, played by Ruffalo.  Can a Song Save Your Life? is currently shooting in Staten Island, New York. 

    BIEBER GETS A BEAT DOWN IN NEW MUSIC VIDEO


    Justin Bieber is certainly a polarizing figure, but those who dislike him may actually enjoy his latest music video. In the brand new “As Long As You Love Me” video, the pop star gets a beatdown from none other than Michael Madsen. It also features a love story, some typical Bieber dance moves, and a verse from rapper Big Sean. Haters and fans alike can check out the video now on YouTube.

    KENNEDY MATRIARCH PLAYS MATCHMAKER WITH GRANDSON AND TAYLOR SWIFT

    When Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy met on the Fourth of July, sparks flew. Now, ABC News reports that the rumored love story was set up by Kennedy’s grandmother, Ethel. The 83-year-old widow of Robert F. Kennedy is a big fan of the country star and decided to set her up with her grandson. The two were seen out sailing and at church over the weekend, and they’ve been spotted multiple times over the past month. For Conor, it’s simply proof that grandmas never stop spoiling you.

    KE$HA TEASES NEW ALBUM FOR FANS


    One thing’s for certain, Ke$ha’s next album won’t be called “Vegan,” but the pop star informed fans her follow-up to Animal and Cannibal should be coming very soon. She posted a handwritten note online, saying she’s been “working 24 hours a day 7 days a week” to have it released as soon as possible. She added that five songs have already gone to mix, meaning new singles could be coming soon.

    SCOTTY McCREERY SHOWS HIS SUPPORT FOR SUMMER OLYMPICS


    It seems like Scotty McCreery is a fan of a certain Olympic gold medalist! The singer first tweeted Missy Franklin, a 17-year-old American swimmer, telling her that he was happy she decided to stay in high school – despite all of her accomplishments. He even added that “those were the best four years of [his] life.” Scotty followed with another message, making sure she knew he was rooting for her. Missy let the singer know “that means the world to [her].” Scotty isn’t the only one congratulating Missy – Justin Bieber sent the Olympian a tweet as well!

    Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band really like to give fans their money’s worth, and concertgoers at The Boss’ gig in Finland this week learned that in person.  The concert was the final one on the European leg of the group’s Wrecking Ball tour and they made it last – playing for a record-long four hours and six minutes.  And that’s not even counting the handful of songs Springsteen played acoustically as a treat for pre-show early birds.  Among the 33 tunes performed were almost all of his hits and some covers like the final two songs of the night – “Higher and Higher” and “Twist and Shout.”  See the full set list at Billboard.com.

    • TIDBIT: It isn’t the only long show the guys put on overseas.  Their June 17th gig in Madrid, Spain went on for three-hours and 48 minutes.

    STEVEN TYLER TALKS ABOUT HIS IDOL DAYS

    Steven Tyler plans to focus on Aerosmith in the coming years and won’t be returning to the judges’ panel on American Idol, but the singer is talking about his experience on the reality competition show.  Steven told Rolling Stone, “I loved it and hated it.  It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money.  It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.”  However, Steven explained that working on the band’s new album, Music From Another Dimension, while appearing on the show was very difficult and in the end, the rocker admitted that Idol was not his “cup of tea.”  Read more at RollingStone.com.

    ED SHEERAN LOVED WORKING WITH TAYLOR SWIFT


    Ed Sheeran thoroughly enjoyed working with Taylor Swift on the follow-up to her hit album, Speak Now. Ed told MTV News that he and Swift worked together to create new material and he found that they have similar musical tastes. Ed also called Taylor a good friend and a pleasure.     WANTED SINGER DOESN’T WANT PRAISES SUNG


    The Wanted singer Max George recently broke up with girlfriend, Michelle Keegan, when reports came out that he was sexting another girl.  The other girl turned out to be his ex-girlfriend, Bobbi Anley.  To really get back at Max, Bobbi turned to the tabloids to describe the sex life she and Max had during their three year relationship.  Max doesn’t like the attention though and feels Bobbi is only telling these stories to make Michelle Keegan feel worse about the breakup.

    LADY GAGA CALLS FOR DISNEY MOVIE ABOUT HER


    If Lady Gaga gets her way, a new Disney movie could be on the horizon. The singer tweeted a piece of fan art portraying her in the style of a Disney princess like “Cinderella,” adding “Just putting it out there, Disney, can we make this happen?” It is unknown whether Disney actually saw her call to action, but the “You and I” singer already has plenty on her plate with her upcoming fragrance, Fame, and her new album, the details of which will be announced in September.

    CARLY RAE JEPSEN TOPS HOT 100 FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT WEEK


    Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut single, “Call Me Maybe,” tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the seventh straight week.  Maroon 5’s “Payphone” featuring Wiz Khalifa holds at number two for the sixth straight week, Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” stays at number three, Ellie Goudling’s “Lights” climbs one spot to number four and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” featuring Kimbra falls one spot to number five.    

    • TIDBIT: According to Billboard, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is the longest running number one song by a woman signed to Interscope Records, surpassing Lady Gaga’s six week run at the top with “Born This Way.”  The Black Eyed Peas hold the record for Interscope with “I Gotta Feeling,” which topped the Hot 100 for 14 straight weeks back in 2009. 

    BRUNO MARS AND DEMI LOVATO ROCKET UP THE CHARTS!


    Bruno Mars’ breakthrough debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, rockets up 124 spots to number 11 on this week’s Billboard album chart.  The album sold over 27-thousand copies one week after just selling over three-thousand copies.  Demi Lovato’s latest album, Unbroken, leaps 97 spots to number 27 on the chart, selling over 13-thousand copies. One week ago, the effort sold just under four-thousand units.  Lovato co-hosted the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday.

    JUSTIN BIEBER PAPARAZZO CHARGED IN CAR CHASE


    Justin Bieber was chased down the 101 freeway last month by a paparazzo who refused to let the pop sensation get away. Now, that photographer is facing up to one year in county jail and fines up to 35-hundred dollars. The freelance photographer, Paul Raef, faces four misdemeanor charges, including following another vehicle too closely, reckless driving with the intent to capture pictures for commercial gain, reckless driving, and failing to obey the lawful order of a peace officer. Bieber was also given a speeding ticket and subsequently filed a harassment complaint days later against the aggressive paparazzo.

    JENNIFER LOPEZ THOUGHT FLO RIDA WAS PERFECT FOR “GOIN’ IN”


    Jennifer Lopez’s latest music video for the track “Goin’ In” features Flo Rida and Lil Jon and is on the soundtrack for Step Up Revolution. On the recent TV special MTV First: Jennifer Lopez, the star revealed to Sway Calloway that the song’s half-dance and hard style seemed to fit Flo Rida’s persona, which made him the perfect choice to collaborate with. For Flo, it was an immediate yes and the rapper just felt thrilled and honored to be a part of the song.

    CHER LLOYD MAKES U-S TV DEBUT ON AMERICA’S GOT TALENT

    Cher Lloyd first took the U-K by storm as a contestant on The X Factor. Now, the 18-year-old British darling is heating up the charts here in the States with her hit single, “Want U Back.” Lloyd performed the song on America’s Got Talent last Wednesday night in a recreation of her music video which ended with the pop tart throwing a milkshake. The song currently holds a top 10 spot on iTunes and will be one of the tracks on her U-S debut album, Sticks and Stones, which drops September 18th.

    HOW PATTI SCIALFA MAKES MUSIC


    Guitarist Patti Scialfa turns 58 on Sunday.  She’s not only a prominent member of the E Street Band, she’s also married to Bruce Springsteen.  They’ve made some sweet music together and Patti spoke to us about how they do it. 

    “Well I think that old fashioned thing of just making music for music’s sake, having nothing to do with the big arm of commerce and just making music because you want to express yourself in that really simple, the pure form of it.”
