LEO DROPS OUT OF MEL MOVIE! Leonardo DiCaprio has withdrawn from the new film about Vikings set to be directed by Mel Gibson. MTV News is reporting that sources close to Leo say he will not be starring in the flick because “Leo has earned the right to pick and choose who he works with,” and he chooses not to work with Mel Gibson. CHELSEA CLINTON’S WEDDING! OBAMA ON THE VIEW! President Barack Obama appeared on The View this week and the ladies quizzed him about all things pop culture, as well as some political stuff. Obama did know that Lindsay Lohan was in jail, wouldn’t comment on Mel Gibson and admitted that he didn’t know who Jersey Shore cast member Snooki was. THE VERONICAS SUE A CLOTHING COMPANY

Aussie pop stars The Veronicas are suing a clothing company. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the twins are taking legal action against the Designworks Clothing Company, which used to be in charge of all merchandise sales for the group in Australia and New Zealand. The suit alleges that the duo hasn’t received any money from the company since December of last year. They are looking for payment of funds as well as money for damages, interest and legal costs.

MIKE POSNER ROCKS AMERICA’S GOT TALENT

Mike Posner took the stage on American’s Got Talent on Wednesday night to perform his debut single, “Cooler Than Me.” The song has been on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 13 weeks and peaked at number six this week, but will slide one spot to number seven on next week’s chart. Posner’s debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, arrives in stores on August 10th.

LINKIN PARK RELEASE SINGLE VIA VIDEOGAME TRAILER

Linkin Park’s new single, “The Catalyst,” will premiere this weekend in the trailer for the Medal of Honor videogame. The song is off Linkin Park’s new album, A Thousand Suns, which comes out in September. MTV News reports that this is the beginning of a new relationship between the band and EA Games, and although nothing has been announced, they will work together again in the future. BABIES, BABIES, BABIES! There is a ton of celebrity baby news out there this week. First off, Juno writer Diablo Cody gave birth to a baby boy she named Marcello Daniel Maurio. Next, Us Weekly is reporting that sources say newlyweds Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are expecting a baby. And, the magazine has confirmation that former Bachelor contestant Melissa Rycroft and her husband are having a baby. Rycroft is reportedly due in February.

CHRIS TUCKER IN TAX TROUBLE! Rush Hour star Chris Tucker owes over 11-million dollars in back taxes to the IRS. TMZ reports that his big debt stems from the years 2001 through 2006, when he didn’t file or improperly filed his federal tax returns.

BREAKING DAWN BIRTH SCENE! Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is talking about the epic birth scene set to be included in the new installment of the vampire movies. According to MTV News, Melissa has been working closely with Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon and is writing and rewriting the pivotal scene where “Bella” gives birth to a half-vampire baby. It seems to be one of the scenes from the books Twi-hard fans are most anxious to see portrayed on the big screen.

AL GORE QUESTIONED! People magazine is reporting that Al Gore was questioned by police last week about the sexual assault accusations a massage therapist has made against him. Gore has publicly denied the assault claims and we’ll keep you updated on what comes out of Al’s questioning.

IDOL UPDATE! Yesterday we reported that former American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe may be returning to the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lythgoe was interested in bringing in the likes of Justin Timberlake and Elton John to help fill the seat left open by the departure of judge Simon Cowell. It sounded a bit too good to be true and it apparently is. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that representatives for Timberlake and John both said that neither will be able to commit to the show due to their busy schedules.

KATY THINKS RUSSELL WOULD BE THE “PERFECT” FATHER

Katy Perry took the time to answer some fan-submitted questions on YouTube, and touched on some pretty interesting topics. In addition to revealing some details about her upcoming wedding to Russell Brand, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer said that she thought about if the comedian would be a “good baby daddy” before they got engaged, and she believes he’ll “be perfect.”

KRIS ALLEN HAS PROBLEMS AT VIDEO SHOOT

Kris Allen was in the desert shooting the video for his latest single, “The Truth,” and it turned into a pretty sticky situation. The former American Idol told MTV News that it all of the sudden it “started to monsoon” and that it was one of the “biggest storms” he had ever been in. He also said that some things like film trailers and a piano got stuck in the “mush” and were most likely ruined.

Hough called Roberts “a phenomenal actress” who plays “many different characters” and is “beautiful.” Maybe Julianne will take boyfriend Ryan Seacrest to Julia’s new movie, Eat Pray Love, which hits theaters August 13th.

SPANISH GOLDEN GIRLS! The New York Times is reporting that The Golden Girls television show is set to be remade in Spanish. The new sitcom will be called Los Anos Dorados and will be about a group of older women sharing a house in Miami. It’s said to have the original spirit of the 1980s sitcom with only slight changes. We wonder if Betty White will make a guest appearance.

SHERYL CROW TALKS WORKING WITH JT

Sheryl Crow worked with Justin Timberlake on her new album 100 Miles from Memphis, and she spoke to the Associated Press about how she got the pop star to come in to the studio. Crow said that because she recorded her album in the southern city, she was able to “drag” him in to do a song, and that wouldn’t have been possible if she was “working from home” in Los Angeles. Nashville native pop singer Ke$ha recently spoke to Paper Magazine about the influence country music and her mother have had on her career. Ke$ha said, “I'm really inspired by country music — my mom wrote country music — and I love Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. I think at some point there might be some country collaborations or records in the future.” Kesha’s mother, Pebe, wrote “Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You,” which Dolly Parton recorded.

GLEEFUL TEEN CHOICE AWARDS

The men of Glee are co-hosting this year’s Teen Choice Awards alongside Katy Perry. Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale are all helping the songstress this Monday night at 7 PM on FOX. Sandra Bullock, Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene will also appear on the show.

RIHANNA TO STAR IN UPCOMING ACTION FLICK!

According to Variety, Rihanna is gearing up for her first feature film. The pop princess has reportedly signed on to appear in an action film called Battleship. Alongside True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch, she will assist in attempting to save the planet from an alien invasion. Ri Ri's acting credentials include her recent SNL skit with Adam Samberg and portraying herself in 2006's Bring It On: All Or Nothing. Hancock's Peter Berg will direct the film, which is slated for a May 2012 release.

BULLOCK WON’T REUNITE! Sandra Bullock will not reunite with her unfaithful ex-husband, Jesse James. Rumors that Bullock was considering going back to him began last week but Radar Online is reporting that there is no chance Bullock will get back together with James.

PRESIDENT OBAMA ON THE VIEW! President Barack Obama will be appearing on The View this Thursday. It will be the first time a sitting president has appeared on a daytime talk show. MAROON 5 WON’T GO TO ARIZONA

Just like many other bands upset over the new immigration laws in Arizona, Maroon 5 will be skipping the state when they hit the road in support of their forthcoming new album, Hands All Over. Frontman Adam Levine told www.PopEater.com that it was a “really difficult decision to make,” but that it simply came down to “what feels right.” The band’s North American tour kicks off on July 30th in Saratoga Springs, New York.

THE SCRIPT FILM VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE

The Script spent yesterday in London, shooting the video for their new single, “For the First Time.” Drummer Glen Power wrote on the band’s Twitter page that the filming was “going great.” “For the First Time” is on the Irish rockers’ forthcoming sophomore album, Science & Faith, which is due out in Europe on September 13th. No word yet on when it will be available in America.

DAUGHTRY TALKS KOL AND BIRD DROPPINGS

Over the weekend, the Kings of Leon had to cut their set in St. Louis short because they were attacked by pigeon droppings. Chris Daughtry took to his Twitter account to write about what he would do if he had to perform while dodging bullets from above. He said that he “would certainly not cancel the rest of show” if a bird pooped on his head, and that because he has no hair, that it would be rather easy to clean up. But if some got in his mouth while he was singing, that would be a “different story.” He also mentioned that he’s a “big KOL fan.”

LA ROUX CANCEL TOUR

La Roux have had to cancel their North American tour. The English duo wrote on their Facebook page that singer Elly Jackson has been struggling with bronchitis the last “few months,” and that doctors have advised her to rest for at least three weeks. The post also said that the group is trying to “reschedule as many of the cancelled shows for November as possible.”

LEONA NOT WORKING ON THIRD ALBUM

It had been rumored that Leona Lewis had been hitting the studio recently to work on her third album, but apparently, that’s not the case. The “Bleeding Love” singer has been working with producer Dallas Austin on what is actually going to be a rerelease of her sophomore album, Echo. British paper The Mirror reports that the effort will be bundled with a DVD of her Labyrinth tour, which recently finished, and should be available “before Christmas.”

JOHN MAYER GETS HIS FANS ICE CREAM

John Mayer was feeling in the giving mood during last week’s show at Jones Beach in New York. The singer-songwriter had a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream truck give away free scoops to fans in attendance. Mayer’s manager, Michael McDonald, told Rolling Stone that it was John’s idea as a way to help connect with his audience. McDonald also said that “it’ll pop up a few more times” as Mayer tours the U-S.

FORMER BNL FRONTMAN TO RELEASE ALBUM

Former Barenaked Ladies frontman Steve Page has just released details about his first solo album since parting ways with the band. The new effort is going to be titled Page One and will be available on September 28th. KATY PERRY RELEASES TEASER CLIP FOR NEW VID

Katy Perry has released a teaser clip of her new video for “Teenage Dream.” The clip is made entirely of photos taken from the set of the video and opens with a glamour shot of Perry riding shotgun in a vintage convertible but then quickly segues to a series of photos that show the singer and her beefy love interest romping, embracing and making out on the beach. According to MTV, the video will premiere within the next couple of weeks.

MTV IS GLAAD! MTV has earned the first-ever “excellent” rating from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation for their representation of gay characters in their programming. According to the Associated Press, 42 percent of MTV’s original primetime programming contained storylines about gay, bisexual and transgender people.

MTV HELPS HIV/AIDS AWARENESS! New research at John Hopkins reveals PEPFAR, MTV and UNICEF’s Ignite Campaign has altered how young people think about HIV and AIDS. MTV’s Staying Alive TV drama series Shuga is a hard-hitting show for young people in both Kenya and Zambia, with compelling HIV prevention and education messages. Another MTV drama series called Tribes airs in Trinidad and Tobago. The combination of both shows reached kids in 96 percent of the top 50 HIV/AIDS impacted countries. In a new audio tape released over at Radar Online, Oksana Grigorieva is heard saying that Mel hit her and their child and Gibson responds by saying that no one will believe her if she says that. Recently, Weldon turned up in an emergency room and told hospital staff that he was trying to meet Sandra Bullock at her Jackson Hole, Wyoming home and that he communicated with her telepathically. According to TMZ, a man has been arrested in L-A and is accused of stalking actress Jennifer Aniston. 24-year-old Jason Peyton was found waiting at a location the Friends actress frequents with “a sharp object, a bag, a roll of duct tape and written messages about Aniston.” Police are currently holding him for psychiatric evaluation and Aniston has been granted an emergency restraining order against Peyton.

SURVIVOR HOST MARRIES OFFICE STAR! In a story made for TV, People magazine is reporting that Survivor host Jeff Probst officiated Office star Jenna Fischer’s wedding. Jeff, who is an ordained Universal Life Church minister, oversaw the nuptials between Jenna and writer Lee Kirk earlier this month. E! Online reports Fischer and Probst are old friends and that’s why he helped the pair say their vows.

KELLY CLARKSON GOING TO THE STUDIO

Kelly Clarkson just gave an update about her next album on her Twitter account. The original American Idol wrote that she’s “about to go record” the follow-up to her most recent effort, All I Ever Wanted, “with Howard Benson,” and that she’s “super pumped.” Benson has produced for many different artists including Daughtry, Gavin DeGraw and Orianthi. SARAH McLACHLAN WANTS TO BRING LILITH FAIR BACK…AGAIN

It’s been a tough year for the Lilith Fair, with the tour having to cancel a number of shows. But that’s not stopping co-founder Sarah McLachlan, who is already looking forward to taking the trek out again next summer. The singer-songwriter told Time Out Chicago that they’re “planning on doing it next year,” and that the Fair “came out loud and proud with a huge roster,” but that it was simply a “tricky time in touring.” The Lilith Fair is in Detroit, Michigan tonight.

KATY PERRY READIES NEW SINGLE

Katy Perry will release her new single “Teenage Dream” on Monday. The song is the title track off her next album, due next month, and the follow-up single to her huge summer hit, “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg. “Gurls” has been the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six straight weeks. Teenage Dream the album will hit stores on August 27th

RUSSELL BRAND SELLING LONDON HOME

Russell Brand must be serious about marrying Katy Perry, because reports are coming in from England that the comedian has put his London bachelor pad on the market, and that there is already a buyer who is interested in purchasing it for around four-million bucks. According to British paper the Daily Mirror, the pair is looking for a place together in New York City.

MADONNA GETS HIT WITH FINE

Madonna may get fined up to eight-thousand dollars for a party at her house that she didn’t even attend. According to www.ContactMusic.com, her staff threw a karaoke party at her London home while she was away, and neighbors complained about the excessive noise. The website reports that Madge is reportedly “furious” about the whole situation and that even though “Madonna likes a good party like anyone else,” she is still “respectful of her neighbors and doesn't like to upset anyone.” Madonna usually stays at the home when she’s in town with her children.

LILY ALLEN CANCELS FESTIVAL APPEARANCE

Lily Allen has had to cancel a couple of appearances recently and on Sunday, the singer-songwriter pulled out of yet another show. According to www.AceShowBiz.com, Allen was set to perform at a festival in Spain over the weekend, but was told by doctors that she was too sick to travel. She wrote on her Twitter account that she is “truly sorry” for missing the show and that she hates letting down her fans. The gig was thought to be Allen’s last show before her retirement from music.

BRANDON FLOWERS SOLO TOUR

Brandon Flowers puts out his first solo album in September and the Killers frontman has now announced tour dates in support of the release. Flowers will take his Flamingo album out on the road starting in his hometown of Las Vegas on August 15th. Along the way, he’ll play L-A, San Francisco, Chicago and New York. Flamingo comes out on September 14th.
