DENNIS QUAID SUES! Dennis Quaid is suing the company that made the blood thinner used three years ago, when his newborn twins were given the drug in the hospital and almost overdosed. According to the Associated Press, Quaid and his lawyers allege that the packaging of the drug caused the drug mix-up at the hospital, leading to the twins’ overdose. The Quaid family has already sued the California hospital where the accident took place.

THE FRAY ARE SAD ABOUT U2

 

U2 recently had to postpone their upcoming tour and their fans aren’t the only people that are sad about it. The Fray were set to open some dates for the Irish rockers and now won’t get the opportunity. AN UPDATE ON DAUGHTRY

 

Daughtry bassist Josh Paul wrote an update on what’s going on with the band on their official website. RUSSELL BRAND WEDDING DETAILS! According to the New York Daily News, Russell Brand will not be inviting his father to his wedding with singer Katy Perry later this year. The outlet reports Brand doesn’t want to upset his mother, who divorced Brand’s dad when Russell was still a kid, so he’s leaving his pop out of the ceremony.

 

GLEE’S JANE LYNCH TO HOST DO SOMETHNG AWARDS! Glee’s Jane Lynch has been tapped to host this year’s Do Something Awards on Vh1. The award show honors celebrities and everyday people who are committed to social change. Stars like Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio and Salma Hayek are nominated in the Do Something Movie Star category, with musicians like Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers, Christina Aguilera, Pete Wentz and Shakira all up for the Do Something Music Artist Award. U2 POSTPONE ENTIRE TOUR TILL 2011

 

Due to Bono’s recent emergency back surgery, U2 has announced that their upcoming tour has been postponed to 2011. Bono has been ordered by doctors to recuperate for at least eight weeks. The doctor who performed the operation says Bono was suffering severe pain and partial paralysis in his lower leg before the surgery. According to a statement from the band, “Bono is now much better, with complete recovery of his motor deficit. The prognosis is excellent, but to obtain a sustainable result, he must now enter a period of rehabilitation." Visit www.U2.com for information on the rescheduled dates.

 

MADONNA TO REPLACE SIMON ON IDOL?

 

Could Madonna be the next judge of American Idol? They are only rumors, but a source told British paper The Sun that the Queen of Pop could be in line to replace Simon Cowell, who will judge his last episode of the hit reality series tonight. The source said, “Everyone agrees Madge would be great and they want her as a full-time judge. But if that fails they’d at least like her as a mentor.” Cowell recently told Oprah Winfrey on her show that all he wants in a replacement is someone that “actually knows what they’re talking about.”

Britney Spears is officially the Queen of Twitter. The pop star has surpassed Ashton Kutcher as the most followed person on the social networking site, having close to five-million followers. BASEBALL HALL OF FAME TO HONOR FOGERTY

 

Most baseball players are familiar with John Fogerty’s 1985 hit “Centerfield” and because of that, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will be honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Cooperstown, New York sports fixture will commemorate the song and its eponymous album’s 25th anniversary at this year’s induction ceremony. The Creedence Clearwater Revival singer will perform the track at the event, which will be the first time a musician or song has ever been honored in such a way. Fogerty is also donating his custom-made baseball bat-shaped guitar for display in the museum. It all happens on July 25th.

LILO AVOIDS JAIL! Lindsay Lohan avoided jail time in her court appearance on Monday, even though she violated the terms of the probation she was under. Her punishment for violating probation is that she’s ordered to wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet 24-hours a day and is subject to random drug testing once a week in L-A and must attend one alcohol education class a week. BRITTANY MURPHY’S HUSBAND DIES! Sunday night, the late Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack was found dead at his home in Hollywood hills. The cause of death is still unknown, but TMZ is reporting that their sources say prescription pills were found at the scene and an overdose could be a possible cause of death. The outlet also reports that Monjack had recently suffered a heart attack and was scheduled for bypass surgery in September, so cardiac arrest may also be a likely cause of death.

 

PAULA BACK ON TV! Paula Abdul is heading back to TV. It was rumored this weekend that the American Idol judge would return to Idol for tomorrow’s finale of season nine’s competition and to say her goodbyes to Simon Cowell. Even if she doesn’t show on the FOX series, fans will get to check out Abdul on CBS as she will be a judge on their new primetime talent competition, Got To Dance. What separates Got To Dance from other dance shows on TV? Apparently, this will be the first all-ages, all-genres dance competition show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will air sometime this winter.

LIFEHOUSE WANT TO TOUR WITH KRIS ALLEN

 

Over the weekend, Lifehouse members took a little time to answer some questions submitted by fans, and they revealed some pretty interesting information. Someone asked what they thought of American Idol champion Kris Allen, and the guys wrote that “he’s great” and that they would “love to tour with him sometime.”

 

MELISSA AND TAMMY BREAK-UP GETS DIRTY

 

The break-up between Melissa and Tammy Etheridge, which was once being referred to as “mutual,” is getting uglier and uglier. JACK JOHNSON PREVIEWS NEW ALBUM

 

Next week sees the release of Jack Johnson’s fifth studio album. To the Sea comes out on June 1st but Johnson is previewing almost every track from the record on his YouTube channel in the week leading up to the release. U2 UPDATE

 

U2 will have to push back their upcoming tour due to Bono’s emergency back surgery last week. The band’s manager says www.U2.com will keep fans up to date with information as to when the tour will kick off. The shows, which are set to feature new material from the group, were set to get underway on June 3rd in Salt Lake City, Utah. So far that is the only show that is affected by Bono’s injury. We’ll keep you posted on updates as they become available. Pending any further postponements, U2’s 360° Tour will launch three days later than scheduled with a pair of shows in Anaheim, California’s on June 6th and 7th.

Even the best performers fall down sometimes. There’s a video online of Taylor Swift taking a pretty bad dive while performing at a recent show. The young singer-songwriter is resilient though, and jumps right back up and continues singing.

NEW MUSIC FROM PCD LEAD SINGER

 

Just because Pussycat lead singer Nicole Scherzinger has been doing so well on Dancing with the Stars doesn’t mean that she’s forgotten her musical roots. According to Rap-Up.com, the original PCD just released a song called “Nobody Can Change Me.” It’s supposedly on her long-delayed solo album, originally titled Her Name is Nicole, which was due in 2008. The website reports that the project is getting reworked to be more pop-centered, as opposed to the urban feel it once had.

SALAHI’S STOPPED NEAR STATE DINNER! This week, President Obama had a state dinner at the White House and Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the couple that crashed the last state dinner, were stopped by the Secret Service near the event. The pair told MSNBC that they were just heading to dinner nearby and it was an “unbelievable coincidence” that their restaurant was near the White House. The Salahi’s limo was stopped for running a red light and the driver was cited. The couple happened to have a camera crew with them from the entertainment news show Inside Edition.

 

GEORGE LOPEZ CHEATED ON HIS WIFE? A Tampa Bay prostitute named Tiffany told the National Enquirer that she was romantically involved with George Lopez. The comedian has a wife named Ann, but according to his alleged mistress, that didn’t matter. Tiff spilled that she “had sex with George Lopez for money.” She went on to reveal that a friend of hers did too and that he wanted a threesome. The TV host has not yet commented on the allegations.

 

MEGAN FOX CHOSE TO LEAVE TRANSFORMERS 3! After news broke that Megan Fox would not be in the upcoming Transformers 3 movie, the actress explained that it was her choice to leave the franchise. In a statement, a rep for Fox said, “She wishes the franchise the best.” No word yet on who will replace the Jennifer’s Body star in the new flick.

KATHERINE HEIGL’S DAUGHTER IS FINE! Katherine Heigl’s adopted baby is doing well after open-heart surgery. The actress told Harper’s Bazaar magazine that her and husband Josh Kelley’s daughter, Nancy Leigh, is “100-percent fine now” after having the surgery just before the couple took her home to Los Angeles last year. Heigl said that she does have a scar, but it just means “she won’t be wearing bikinis” which is fine with them.

GAGA & BEYONCE HIT TWO-MILLION DOWNLOADS

 

Lady Gaga has made history yet again. According to www.agaDaily.com, the pop star’s song “Telephone,” which features Beyonce, has surpassed two-million paid downloads, making it the first all-female collaboration to do so in the digital era. This also gives Gaga her sixth tune to be downloaded over two-million times, which sees her join the Black Eyed Peas as the only two acts to accomplish this feat as lead artists.

 

THE SCRIPT WANT TO GET NEW MUSIC OUT

 

The Script are performing this morning on the Today Show’s concert series in New York City. The Irish rockers spoke to USA Today about where they are on their second album, the follow-up to their hit self-titled debut. MUSE BASSIST EXPECTING BABY

 

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme and his wife Kelly are expecting a baby this November. Because of the baby’s arrival, Muse have rearranged some of their fall U-S tour dates to accommodate the new addition. The shows on November 2nd and 3rd have been canceled, with a promise from the band that those dates will be rescheduled. LILY ALLEN IS HONORED

 

Even though Lily Allen is getting ready to quit music, she’s still picking up awards on her way out of the business. According to Reuters, the singer-songwriter picked up three Ivor Novello Awards in the categories of Best Music, Best Lyrics, and Most Performed Work, all for her song “The Fear.” Allen was reportedly “teary-eyed” as she accepted her awards.

 

LADY ANTEBELLUM SINGS FOR SIMS 3

 

Lady Antebellum recently recorded a special version of their hit “Need You Now” for The Sims 3. The trio recorded the song in Simlish, which is the language spoken on the Sims game. JO BROS GET STUCK IN ELEVATOR

 

The Jonas Brothers had quite the scare earlier in the week. According to the New York Post, after their concert at The Grove in Los Angeles, the Disney stars were stuck in an elevator for nearly an hour. A source said that the brothers thought it was funny at first, but started to get worried after about 30-minutes. Apparently the elevator was stuck between floors and the guys were able to squeeze out after the doors were pried open.

 

MILEY CYRUS JEWELRY IS BAD FOR KIDS

 

Miley Cyrus-brand jewelry has been tested and found to have high levels of cadmium, which can lead to bone softening and kidney failure. And according to the Associated Press, Wal-Mart is still continuing to sell it. LOHAN LOSES PASSPORT IN CANNES! Lindsay Lohan claims someone stole her passport in Cannes, France. Lohan went to the airport yesterday trying to get on a flight back to the States without a passport but was denied boarding. The site reports Lohan had a reservation to fly back to Los Angeles for a mandatory court hearing today. Lindsay has made an appointment with the U-S Embassy this morning to get another passport so she can fly home. Judge Marsha Revel has said she will issue a warrant for Lindsay's arrest if she doesn't show up at 10:30 AM.

 

TWILIGHT NATION CELEBRATES! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene have resolved their salary dispute with Summit Entertainment and signed on for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Lutz and Greene are getting over one-million dollars for each of the final movies.

 

THERON DOESN’T LIKE IRON MAN! Audiences have been raving about Iron Man 2, but apparently Charlize Theron has a different opinion. According to www.People.com, the actress was seen catching a late night showing of the film with a male pal, but snuck out of the theater well before the end of the flick.

 

DREW BARRYMORE’S NEXT DIRECTING JOB! Drew Barrymore made her directorial debut last year with the movie Whip It! and on her next project, the actress plans to do a sequel to The Wizard of Oz called Surrender Dorothy. GOLFER ROBBED AT GUN POINT! Golfer Chi Chi Rodriguez is recovering after being held hostage by four men at gunpoint in his Puerto Rico home on Wednesday. According to TMZ, the robbers broke into his home early in the morning and tied him and his wife up with duct tape as they stole jewelry and cash. Rodriguez told the website that it was the “scariest situation” he’s ever been in.

 

ANNA NICOLE’S UNDERWEAR OFF EBAY! Anna Nicole’s used panties, garter belts, lingerie tops and other personal belongings have been removed from eBay. The news comes after Smith’s so-called best friend, Jackie Hatten, reportedly posted random items that were once used by Anna, like an old make-up brush. However, eBay’s policy “strictly prohibits listing used underwear. Used clothing may be listed on eBay as long as it has been cleaned and the listing clearly states that the clothing is used.”

 

CURB TO FILM IN NYC! The next season of the hit HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm will be filmed in New York City. Actress Susie Essman broke the news to the New York Post saying, “They all live in L-A and for seven seasons, I’ve been schlepping out there. Now I get to sleep in my own bed. Let them stay in hotels.” There is no word what the plotline is for this season but production will start in July with the season premiere early next year.

 

SEYFRIED HATES OBSESSIVE EXERCISING! Amanda Seyfried revealed in the June issue of Self magazine that she doesn’t believe in obsessive exercising. The Letters To Juliet actress says she “used to live, eat and sleep by an exercise schedule” but gave up when she couldn’t “enjoy” life and admits the “soft parts [of her body] are probably never going away.” Instead, Seyfried chooses to workout for only 30 minutes during weekdays and Pilates on weekends. GAGA CLEANS UP AT WORLD MUSIC AWARDS

 

Lady Gaga cleaned up at the World Music Awards, which took place Tuesday night in Monte Carlo, Monaco. According to www.AceShowBiz.com, the pop star took home five gongs, as she won for Best Selling Artist From America, Best Single, Best Album, Best Pop/Rock Artist and Best New Artist. Other bands taking home multiple awards included U2 and the Black Eyed Peas.

Michael Franti has a new album in the works, and it appears that it will be released by EMI/Capitol Records. Orianthi is set to rerelease her hit debut album Believe. Katy Perry is all set to be today’s headlining performer at the CW’s upfronts at Madison Square Garden. According to the New York Post, the pop star will be performing her new single “California Gurls” at the “World’s Most Famous Arena,” as the tune has been chosen to be the network’s “official theme song for the summer.”

 

PBS SOUNDTAGE BACK WITH TRAIN, PHIL COLLINS AND MORE

 

The critically acclaimed series PBS Soundstage is going to be rocking all summer long. Lilith Fair is right around the corner, but how are tickets to the festival selling? According to Billboard, founder Sarah McLachlan said that sales are “pretty soft” at the moment, and that there have been complaints about ticket prices.
