John Mayer made his musical comeback on Saturday in Milwaukee for the first stop on the his "Born and Raised" tour. It was the first time he's taken the stage for a proper headlining show since doctors repaired a granuloma in his throat last August.
He told the crowd: "I've spent many, many months dreaming of this night. It's a long time coming."
Mayer talked about his surgery only once and used the moment to reference his girlfriend Katy Perry and how she ordered food for him when he couldn't speak.
He said: "She was so patient. She took the time to continue to get know me and love me."
He then dedicated the night's final song, "A Face To Call Home", to Perry and told the crowd, "This is for Katy, who is my face to call home."
