 KATY AND RUSSELL’S WEDDING TO LAST A WEEK?

Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s wedding is definitely going to be an affair to remember, but if you’re going to be in attendance, you might need to get ready for a week-long party.  According to British paper the Daily Mirror, the pair’s nuptials are going to take place in India at the end of the month and will last for seven days.  Apparently Noel Gallagher and Morrissey have both been invited.

 GEORGE MICHAEL NOT HAVING A HARD TIME IN JAIL

Almost every report about George Michael’s stay in jail while serving eight weeks for crashing his car under the influence of marijuana says that the former Wham! singer has been having a rough time adjusting to life behind bars.  But Michael has issued a statement, explaining that everything in jail has been going just fine.  According to ContactMusic.com, Michael said that he’s been treated with nothing but “kindness by inmates and staff,” and that “there have been no tears, no anxiety, no bullying – in fact, not so much as a sleepless night.”  Sounds like Michael’s got things under control.

PLAIN WHITE T’S ALBUM PUSHED BACK

You’re going to have to wait a little longer than you probably wanted to hear the Plain White T’s new album Wonders of the Younger.  According to a press release, the “Hey There Delilah” group’s latest effort will now be available on December 7th, as opposed to later this month.  Learn more at PlainWhiteTs.com.

UPDATE: BRUNO MARS OFFICIALLY CHARGED!

We previously reported Peter “Bruno Mars” Hernandez was recently arrested for allegedly possessing of 2.6 grams of cocaine. Well, the “Just the Way You Are” singer has been charged with a felony drug possession after security guards followed him into the bathroom of the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas late last month. In addition, the Hawaiian native tested positive for cocaine at the time of his arrest.  If he’s convicted, he could face four years in prison and be fined five-thousand dollars.

THE SCRIPT BACK TO NUMBER ONE IN THE U-K

The Script’s new album, Science & Faith, isn’t out in the U-S yet, but if it does as well here as in the U-K, then the Irish rockers should be very pleased.  According to Billboard, the effort is back on the top of the U-K charts, after debuting at number one a few weeks ago.  Learn more about the new album at TheScriptMusic.com.

A TRAIN iPHONE APPLICATION

THE BEATLES SINGING GAGA’S “TELEPHONE”

If The Beatles were around today, maybe they would choose to cover Lady Gaga’s hit song “Telephone.”  Of course we’ll never know because the band hasn’t been together in many, many years, but that didn’t stop someone from posting a video online of old footage of the group appearing the sing the words to the song.  Even though it’s obviously fake, it’s worth checking out.  See it on YouTube now.

GAGA PERFORMS WITH YOKO ONO

Lady Gaga had a very cool opportunity over the weekend.  According to the New York Daily News, the pop star joined Yoko Ono’s We Are Plastic Ono Band on stage in L-A, in an outfit that showed off her bare bottom, covered by only some sheer fabric.  The concert kicked off what will be a week of events honoring what would have been the late John Lennon’s 70th birthday.  Learn more at NYDailyNews.com.

STING TURNS 59, PERFORMS BEFORE PARTY

Over the weekend, Sting turned 59 years old and the singer celebrated in style.  Sting, along with wife Trudie Styler and some famous friends, went to a London club, but not before he performed a sold-out show at Royal Albert Hall in the English capital.  Learn more about the former Police frontman’s night at ContactMusic.com.

TRAVIE McCOY TALKS ABOUT KATY PERRY SONG

While she has not come out and said it, Katy Perry’s song “Circle The Drain” seems to be about ex-boyfriend Travie McCoy.  The song features lyrics like, "You fall asleep during foreplay/Cause the pills you take are more your forte," which could very well refer to McCoy, who entered rehab in 2008 to deal with his addiction to pharmaceutical drugs.  MTV News caught up with McCoy, who shared his thoughts on the track.  McCoy wouldn't make any further comment on the song, though he did say that he had been wondering when someone was going to ask him about it.  Meanwhile, McCoy recently shot a video in downtown Los Angeles for his new single, “Need You.”  That clip will be released soon.      

NEW JASON DERULO VIDEO!

A new video from Jason Derulo is up at ThatGrapeJuice.net. The clip is for “The Sky’s The Limit,” which was produced by J.R. Rotem and is on Derulo’s self-titled debut album. 

LADY A’S HILLARY SCOTT GETS IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott will be featured on Nashville singer/songwriter Dave Barnes’ upcoming Christmas album. The pair will do a duet on the song “Christmas Tonight.” Dave has an extensive resume opening for Lady A, Dierks Bentley and Taylor Swift, and has also written multiple songs from many country artists. Hillary said, “Dave Barnes is one of the sweetest and most talented guys I know.” The Very Merry Christmas record comes out November 9th.

BILLBOARD PREDICTS LADY A’S GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

Billboard.com recently conducted a survey with record executives and industry observers asking their predictions for the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, and according to the results, many are predicting Lady Antebellum will lead the nominations. The trio’s single, “Need You Now,” is expected to be nominated for Song of the Year, and Lady A’s sophomore album, Need You Now, is anticipated to receive nominations for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. The nominees will be announced on December 1st during the third annual GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live: Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night concert. The awards show airs on CBS February 13th, 2011.

SWIFT REVEALS COVER-ART FOR “SPEAK NOW”

The artwork for Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” single has been revealed. The title-track off of her upcoming album was released to iTunes today, and each week leading up to the Speak Now album release, a new track will be available for purchase. The cover art shows Taylor standing up during a wedding ceremony, while others in attendance have  horrified looks on their faces. During a brief interview with Taylor on E!, she says the song was written about a friend who thought she was going to get back together with her high school boyfriend, until she found out he was getting married to an evil girl. Taylor’s third album, Speak Now, comes out worldwide on October 25th.

LILY ALLEN IS NERVOUS ABOUT TERRORISM

Lily Allen is in Paris and is a little nervous about the terror alert that has been issued all throughout Europe.  The singer-songwriter took to her Twitter account to say that she was “scared” being in the French capital, and that she’s also afraid to take the train home back to England.  She later wrote that she hopes she’s just being a “mad paranoid pregnant lady.” 

CHRISTINA SCORES NUMBER ONE DANCE HIT

Christina Aguilera’s latest single “You Lost Me,” which didn’t make a big splash on the pop charts, has the number one on Billboard's Dance/Club Chart.  The song is the second single off her album, Bionic, which has fallen off the Billboard 200 chart. 

 AGUILERA TO TEAM WITH GUETTA?

Christina Aguilera is rumored to be in negotiations to collaborate with David Guetta on his next album.  According to Digital Spy, Guetta wants to work with the singer on his forthcoming LP, due out next summer. Other artists reportedly set to appear on Guetta’s next album include Usher, Kelly Rowland, and will.i.am. 

NELLY FURTADO PREPS GREATEST HITS ALBUM

Next month, Nelly Furtado will release her first greatest hits compilation, The Best Of Nelly Furtado.  The album will features her number one hit songs, collaborations and three previously unreleased recordings and will be available in standard and double-disc deluxe editions.  The first single off the effort will be the previously unreleased track “Night is Young.”  The Best of Nelly Furtado, which features hits like "I'm Like a Bird," "Promiscuous," "Say It Right," and "Maneater," will arrive in stores on November 16th.  Furtado’s next album will be out in early 2011.

 

PARAMORE SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BRAND NEW EYES

Paramore’s album Brand New Eyes came out a year ago and singer Hayley Williams marked the record’s birthday with a blog post. Williams says the album being released was important because it showed the world “we weren’t going anywhere.” Hayley recalls losing her voice right before the band went out on tour this time last year and how her band and fans helped her through the difficult time. No word on when Paramore will begin recording a new album.  

BILLIE JOE TO PERFORM ON BROADWAY AGAIN?

Billie Joe Armstrong turned to acting this week, taking on the role of “St. Jimmy” in the American Idiot musical on Broadway. The Green Day singer wrote on Twitter that he was sad to leave his short stint on the play behind, but he may return, saying, “This is not goodbye. This is so long.” The production is based on Green Day’s iconic 2004 album of the same name. 

TYLER AND NELSON DUET AT FARM AID

This past weekend, the 25th edition of Farm Aid took place in Milwaukee and concertgoers got quite a surprise.  During Willie Nelson’s set, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler came out to harmonize with the singer.  The pair sang “One Time Too Many” and “Once is Enough” together.  Check out footage of the songs by searching YouTube for “Farm Aid 2010 Steven Tyler.”  Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and many others also performed at the annual event, which raises money for independent farmers.

YOKO ONO ALWAYS LISTENING TO LENNON’S MUSIC

Today, a whole bunch of John Lennon’s music is coming out.  Among the releases are eight of the singer’s remastered classic solo albums, an expanded version of Double Fantasy, a hits compilation called Power to the People: The Hits, a 4-CD set of themed discs titled Gimme Some Truth and a deluxe 11-CD box set called the John Lennon Signature Box.  Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, oversaw some of the new releases and appears on many of the older ones.  She told us how often she listens to John’s work.  Lennon would have been 70 years old this Saturday.  Celebrate his life by picking up some of his new releases today.

A BOWIE BOOK

David Bowie announced on his website that he’s working on a new book featuring images from his personal archive.  The tome, which will be available in different colors, boasts 100 items that give insight into Bowie’s life as well as some text from the singer.  It’s said to be the first in a series of books by Bowie.  Read more at DavidBowie.com
