addition to previously announced honorees such as the Kardashians and Herman Cain, the number one spot, as is the standard, was left secret until the broadcast. The 2011 Most Fascinating Person was (drumroll please)…
Steve Jobs.
A shocking choice, as Walters explained, because her rule has always been that the “Most Fascinating People” have to be living. When Jobs announced his retirement last summer, she said she knew he would be her pick. When he died, she decided to keep him on the list because, much like Jobs believed, “rules were made to be broken.”
Given that many assumed he wasn’t eligible, the pick is certainly unexpected. But of course, on a list that also included Pippa Middleton and Donald Trump, it’s nice that the MOST Fascinating individual is someone whose contributions will be felt long beyond 2011.
Who gets your vote for 10 Least Fascinating People of 2011? There are too many for me to name..haha
