Drinking this weekend?

(ATTN: OBNOXIOUS DRUNKS).... WASTED FOLKS TAKE MEANINGLESS ACCIDENTS SERIOUSLY...SERIOUSLY...

Why does heavy drinking sometimes lead to violence?

If you've been drunk, you know firsthand alcohol can cause you to do or say something you usually wouldn't.

A new study found that drinking also raises the chances that you will look at another person's action as purposeful, and not accidental.

The study involved giving drinks to 92 men ranging in age from 20 to 46. They were told they were taking part in a cocktail taste test, but for half of the men the three drinks they tried had a real kick. They had the equivalent of five to six shots of vodka.

The other half of the group was told they'd be drinking booze and half were told the drinks were soft. The same went for the guys who got the "placebo" drinks.

Once the guys were drunk, they were asked to read 50 sentences describing a variety of actions. Then, they had to determine whether or not the actions were carried out on purpose. Phrases included: "She woke the baby up" and "He deleted the email."

Men who drank real alcohol were more likely to describe the action as having been done "on purpose."

The "placebo" drinkers rated the sentences just like the sober men.
