AFLAC NEEDS A NEW DUCK... COMEDIAN GILBERT GOTTFRIED FIRED FOR 'JOKING' ABOUT JAPAN EARTHQUAKE

Aflac (the disability insurer) has fired comedian Gilbert Gottfried as the voice of its iconic duck after he tweeted jokes about the earthquake in Japan-- Aflac's most important market.
Since 2000, Gottfried has voiced the duck in the insurer's TV ad campaign in the United States, quacking "Af-LAC!".
Gottfried hopped on Twitter for deliver a dozen jokes regarding the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami.

Aflac Inc. does 75 percent of its business in Japan, and says the jokes do not represent the feelings of the company. Chief Marketing Officer Michael Zuna said "there is no place for anything but compassion and concern during these difficult times."
Aflac said it would start a nationwide casting call to find a new voice.
