BILLY GIBBONS NAMED OFFICIAL TEXAS MUSICIAN

Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top has been named the official state musician for Texas.

The Texas State Legislature chose Gibbons for his exceptional quality of work and commitment to the arts in Texas. He will serve a one-year term.

The legislature chose several artists in different fields, and its three-dimensional artist of the year is Bill FitzGibbons. Gibbons says he promises to forward all mail that might be intended for FitzGibbons.

Gibbons will take over the honor from Lyle Lovett, who is the current official Texas state musician.
