An American Eagle pilot was arrested for being drunk as he got ready to fly from Minneapolis to New York City. 

Cops and a TSA agent smelled alcohol as they passed the pilot waiting to get on an elevator. The pilot was conducting preflight checks at about 6 a.m. when cops boarded the aircraft. 

Officers made him take a breath test .  He was over the legal flying limit of .04.  Cops arrested him but he hasn't been charged yet because cops are waiting until blood tests come back.

The airline has suspended the pilot until further notice.
