PINK IS A COVERGIRL!


Pink has been named the newest face of Covergirl. She joins the likes of Taylor Swift, Sofia Vergara, Ellen DeGeneres and Queen Latifah to help rep the brand. Of the new job, Pink says it’s an honor to join a group of women who’ve inspired her. This looks to be a great year for Pink, whose new album, The Truth About Love, comes out September 18th.

THE SCRIPT HOLD GOLD


The Script were hanging out near the Olympic Village in London Monday morning to perform on The Today Show. While there, the band got to hold an Olympic gold medal and immediately put of picture of if on their Twitter account. The band played their tune “Hall of Fame” off their upcoming album, #3. GOTYE RELEASES “SAVE ME”

J-LO REP INSISTS BREAKUP RUMORS ARE FALSE


A Jennifer Lopez representative putting some rumors to rest, saying reports of a breakup between her and Casper Smart are patently false. J-Lo’s publicity team told FOX News Latino that the two are still together, despite rumors last week that they were on thin ice. The pair was spotted with the singer’s two kids over the weekend, appearing better than ever. Last week, speculation arose from a number of sources, including E! News and Celebuzz, that the couple was in limbo after Smart was seen outside an adult toy shop.

ELTON JOHN REIGNITES FEUD WITH MADONNA

Sunday night was all right for fighting, according to Elton John. E! Online reports the singer slammed Madonna over the weekend, saying “her career’s over” and that recent performances make her look “like a fairground stripper.” This isn’t the first time Sir Elton has taken jabs at Madonna. He’s been accusing her of lip syncing since 2004. His beef with her may be reignited over Lady Gaga, whom Madonna appears to have dismissed as unoriginal. Gaga is the godmother of John’s 19-month-old son.

IS THERE ONE WOMAN FOR ONE DIRECTION’S LIAM?

Rumors flew around the Internet this weekend that One Direction’s Liam Payne was engaged to girlfriend Danielle Peazer.  Liam corrected all the reports via his Twitter and poked fun at a U-K newspaper that reported on the story.  Liam and Danielle are currently living together though, with Liam saying “I can't have it too messy or she'll have a go at me.”

RIHANNA GIVES OPRAH A TOUR OF BARBADOS


Oprah Winfrey joined Rihanna in Barbados over the weekend to shoot some footage for the singer’s appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter.  RiRi drove Oprah around the island in a jeep and showed off her old stomping grounds.  Both O and Rihanna posted photos on Instagram to share the news with fans.  You can see Rihanna and Oprah on the August 19th episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter

  • TWEET OF THE DAY!  Our tweet of the day comes from Rihanna, who took to Twitter and wrote: “Life without purpose is vanity.”  Sounds like the singer has been hanging out with Oprah Winfrey. 

JUSTIN BIEBER, USHER AND FRANK OCEAN WIN GOLD AT MTV’S SUMMER JAM GAMES

MTV News held their own version of the Olympics, asking fans to vote on their favorite Summer Jam in five categories: hip-hop, R&B, EDM, rock and pop.   Usher’s “Lemme See” featuring Rick Ross wins the gold in the hop-hop category, beating G.O.O.D. Music’s “Mercy.”  Frank Ocean stands on the top of the R&B podium with “Thinkin Bout You,” Ellie Goulding wins the Electronic Dance Music category with “Lights” and No Doubt goes gold with their latest single “Settle Down.”  It’s no surprise that voters chose Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” featuring Big Sean as the pop summer jam, besting One Direction’s "One Thing."  The two songs grabbed 95 percent of the vote.  Head to MTV.com/News for more. 

NICKELBACK TO BRING AWESOMENESS TO LAND DOWN UNDER

Nickelback just announced that they will be competing for the title of “Thunder From Down Under” when they bring their powerful and spectacular live performance to Australia and New Zealand this November after completing their European tour. The band hasn’t toured the two countries since 2009 and fans are eagerly waiting for the end of their three-year Nickelback drought. Tickets go on sale August 15th and can be bought at Nickelback.com.

GOTYE MUM ON TRANSEXUAL RUMORS


The Internet is ablaze with rumors that pop star Gotye might have had a sex change before his ascension to the top of the charts with his hit “Somebody That I Used To Know,” with some people suggesting the song might even be about the singer talking about his former female self. In an recent interview with E!, he was asked about the allegations, to which he simply responded that it was “fun” to let people speculate about the rumors and would neither confirm or deny the anything. Gotye was recently forced to strongly deny allegations of his own death via Twitter when CNN erroneously reported he had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

BONO TURNS BACK ON SIMON COWELL

The Irish Sun is reporting that U2 frontman Bono is caught in the middle of a nasty war between American Idol and the U-S version of The X-Factor, with both fighting over him to join their panel of judges. The fight intensified in recent weeks when departing Idol judge Jennifer Lopez let it be known that Bono would be her pick to replace her.  The singer has apparently turned a deaf ear to the numerous offers from both shows and has told people close to him that he’s not interested in being a talent judge because he’s a rock star and he’s fully committed to U2 and making their next album a masterpiece.

LINKIN PARK ON ONE OF THE BEST BANDS YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF


Linkin Park and Incubus have garnered a lot of publicity for their upcoming Honda Civic Tour. The two groups represent opposite ends of the alternative music spectrum and have decided to bring along a band on the tour that is somewhere in the middle of both their sounds. Mutemath is a rock group that hails from New Orleans and according to Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, they’re the best band you haven’t heard of yet. You can catch Mutemath, Linkin Park and Incubus when the Honda Civic Tour, which kicks off this weekend, comes to your town.
