HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL JACKSON!


Today (8/29) is a very special day for music fans all over the world.  August 29th would have been Michael Jackson’s 54th birthday.  Although he passed away in June of 2009, MJ’s legacy of number one albums and number one songs will live on forever.  So be sure to take a minute today and pay your respects to the man who will forever be the true King of Pop.

DEMI LOVATO SET FOR 2012 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS


Demi Lovato has been tapped to perform at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Pre-Show. Demi will singer her hit song “Give Your Heart A Break,” kicking off a night of amazing performances. Calvin Harris will join Demi during the pre-show. Check it out starting at 7 PM on MTV, with the big show beginning at 8.

THE SCRIPT RELEASE THE DELUXE EDITION OF #3


The Script have revealed the track list for the deluxe edition of their upcoming album, #3. The special disc will include 17 songs and a video about the making of the album. Head to iTunes.com to preorder the deluxe version.  #3 comes out on October 9th.

NICKELBACK SEND THEIR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

ELLIE GOULDING’S “ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN”


Ellie Goulding released her chart-topping hit, “Lights,” nearly 18 months ago in the U-S and is now ready to move on and release her new single, “Anything Could Happen,” off her upcoming album, Halcyon. Goulding says the song is about bits of her childhood, friendships and realizations. She hopes the song will inspire people and provoke positivity. With the new album, Goulding aspires for artistic growth, citing that Halcyon will unapologetically be a pop record whereas the last one was very electronic.

TAYLOR SWIFT TO DEBUT NEW VIDEO THURSDAY


Taylor Swift will take over CMT, MTV, Vh1 and TeenNick tomorrow (8/30) to premiere the highly-anticipated music video for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The video was shot in only one take, which Taylor tells us added excitement to the shoot. CMT will air a 30-minute special at 7:30 PM Eastern featuring Taylor with her fans in studio, leading up to the video’s debut on the networks. CMT will also air the video every hour during music hours throughout Labor Day weekend. At 8 PM Eastern, the music video will also debut on CMT.com, MTV.com and VH1.com.

MILEY CYRUS CONFIRMED FOR TWO AND A HALF MEN

Miley Cyrus has accepted a role on two upcoming episodes of CBS’s Two and a Half Men. According to a release from the network, Miley will play “Missi,” an old family friend of Ashton Kutcher’s character who comes to visit and develops a relationship with “Jake” after he comes home from the Army. Agnus T. Jones, who plays “Jake” on the show, told E! News of the on-screen romance, “Whatever it’s going to be, it’s going to be interesting.” The new season of the series starts September 27th, but it’s not known yet when Miley’s episodes will air.

OPRAH’S NEXT CHAPTER? JENNIFER HUDSON

Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson will join Rihanna and Gabby Douglas on the list of celebrities to be interviewed on Oprah’s Next Chapter.  According to Perez Hilton, Oprah will be invited into Jennifer’s Chicago home to discuss the singer’s debut on Smash, her transition from singing to acting, Weight Watchers, and the sentencing of William Balfour, the man who murdered Jennifer’s mom, brother and nephew.  Oprah’s interview with Jennifer will premiere on the Oprah Winfrey Network on September 9th.

DEV: MY SEX TAPE WAS A LONG TIME AGO


“In the Dark” singer Dev is sending cease and desist letters to various media outlets, telling them not to publish a sex tape of her and an ex-boyfriend.  TMZ reports that the tape shows the now-23-year-old and an unidentified male, and Dev says the two “were young, having fun” but that “it was a long time ago.”  She goes on to say being a mom and being engaged is more important to her than “someone trying to embarrass [her].”

LADY GAGA HEADS TO COURT FOR LAWSUIT


Lady Gaga was recently filmed, but not for a music video or live interview. Instead, she was the star of a six-hour filmed court deposition regarding the lawsuit filed against her by her former assistant, Jennifer O’Neill. Celebuzz reports that O’Neill is suing Gaga’s Mermaid Touring Company for 380-thousand dollars for the 7,168 hours of overtime she allegedly worked during her 13-month stint as the “Poker Face” singer’s assistant. The suit claims that she was forced to wait on Gaga at all hours of the day and night, running spontaneous, petty errands and receiving no time for breaks, eating or sleeping. O’Neill’s attorney commented, “Just by [Gaga]’s responses, I believe our case is strong.” He will be meeting with a judge in the next few weeks to set a trial date.

MUSE TO CLOSE-OUT ITUNES FESTIVAL

The annual month long iTunes Festival almost has a finaled 2012 lineup with the addition of British rock band Muse. The trio is set to close out the festival on September 30th and join a lineup that consists of Usher, Jack White, Alicia Keys and The Killers just to name a few. FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE TO TAKE A YEAR OFF

After releasing two critically acclaimed albums and touring non-stop for the last three years, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine has decided she needs a break. In a recent interview with Style magazine, Welch spoke of her plan to take a year-long hiatus from music. The singer also discusses the vocal injury she sustained earlier this year while performing at a concert where she actually heard something “pop or snap” in her throat. Luckily there was no permanent damage. Although we can’t expect any new music from Florence Welch and the Machine for at least a year, she will be making an appearance on a new album from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, which will also feature performances by Rihanna and Ellie Goulding. That album is titled 18 Months and is due out in October.

RINGO STARR IS THE RICHEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD
