CALL ME(MES) MAYBE
“Call Me Maybe” has quickly become the summer song of 2012, but its popular chorus is invading a new territory – the Internet. Many memes have begun using the beginning lyrics of the chorus to suit their own purposes. There are versions featuring “Y U NO,” “Success Baby” and “Joseph Ducreux.” The Internet wasn’t satisfied with only standard memes though and began adapting the chorus for popular TV series and movies – “Darth Vader” asks “Luke” to “join me maybe” and “Cookie Monster” asks his reader to “give me [cookies] maybe.” Just google “Call Me Maybe Memes” to see which of your favorite memes, tv shows and movies have adapted the song!

RINGO STARR TURNS 72

Tomorrow (7/7), Ringo Starr turns 72 years old. For almost all of those years, the Beatle has been playing the drums. But why does he do it? He filled us in.
“I do it cause it goes back a long, long time where as a kid, I wanted to play drums, I wanted to play with good players and that’s what I do, I love to play.”
72 is a pretty high number, yet Ringo has been a grandfather since he was 44. However, the numbers and titles mean nothing to the rocker.
“You know, we live in that past where grandfathers were very, very old, you know what I mean, and now, it’s not the case. People keep themselves together, which I do.”
Ringo isn’t slowing down and still spends massive amounts of time on the road. So does he ever think about retiring?
“No. I used to think retirement, probably when I was 40. Now, I don’t think about it at all. I’m just rocking on.”
Ringo will be spending his birthday on stage in Nashville with his All-Starr Band. Get all his dates at RingoStarr.com.
- TIDBIT: Ringo’s granddaughter, Tatia Starkey, is also a performer who goes by the stage name Veronica Avant. Her dad is Zak Starkey, the sometimes drummer for The Who.
