ROB THOMAS JOINS THE VOICE AS A MENTOR

Rob Thomas will be joining Cee Lo Green on the popular TV show The Voice next season to help mentor Cee Lo’s contestants. The Matchbox Twenty singer told Us Weekly, “I’m really excited to work with Cee Lo and love the idea that I may be in the room with a future superstar that the world hast yet to discover.” Previous artists that have appeared as mentors on the show include Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke. The new season is set to air on September 10th.
JEPSEN CALLS THE POLICE… MAYBE

Singer Carly Rae Jepsen has denied that nude pictures that hit the web this week were of her, however, that doesn’t mean X-rated photos of her don’t exist. TMZ reports that the “Call Me Maybe” singer had her reps contact the Vancouver Police Department to investigate the theft of several personal photos stolen from her computer by a hacker back in March. TMZ says that the alleged suspect has been shopping the photos around, but those photos have not been released.
TELL “ME MAYBE” ABOUT THE DUET? NO.

Carly Rae Jepsen has been teasing fans for months about her upcoming duet with Justin Bieber. Carly’s debut album is coming out in September and she says fans will have to wait until then to learn anything about the duet. Jepsen told MTV News she’s “sworn to secrecy” but she’s “really excited” for the rest of the album.

MADONNA EXPLAINS CONTROVERSIAL SWASTIKA

Madonna has gotten a lot of press lately for her use of a swastika in her MDNA tour. The Nazi symbol is superimposed over French National Front leader Marine Le Pen in a video Madonna plays during her song “Nobody Knows Me.” Le Pen threatened to sue Madonna earlier this month if she didn’t delete the image, but the singer said on Wednesday that the video is about “the intolerance that we human beings have for one another. And how much we judge people before knowing them. That's why it's done in the song 'Nobody Knows Me.’”
DAVE GROHL TO ROCK THE TEACHERS
Dave Grohl is set to "Rock" the school house as part of an upcoming television special that honors great teachers. The CBS program will feature an all-star line-up including Jack Black, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and Meryl Streep as well as performances by Carrie Underwood and Josh Groban. The show airs August 18th at 8 PM with funds raised from the special going to DonorsChoose.org, Feeding America and Teach for America.
SCOTTY McCREERY STARTS SOPHOMORE ALBUM

Scotty McCreery is back in the studio this week working on album number two. He told us that one of the biggest challenges of recording a new album is staying out of a rut. Scotty’s debut album, Clear As Day, has sold over one-million copies and includes two Top 20 hits in “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls.”
- RELATED NEWS: On the search for a new American Idol judge, Scotty says he’d like to see Garth Brooks at the judges’ panel. According to reports, Scotty’s tourmate, Brad Paisley, is being considered for the position as well.
POP GROUP ADDS A LITTLE COUNTRY TO NEW ALBUM
Pop-punk band Boys Like Girls invited country duo Sugarland’s Kristian Bush to play mandolin on their forthcoming album, Crazy World. Bush appears on “Stuck In The Middle” as just one of the many “cool players” the band says they had in the studio. The group’s Martin Johnson told MTV he’s a “huge country music fan” and that “musically, [he] thinks, some of the best songs are on country radio and not pop radio.” A few years ago, Boys Like Girls found success with their collaboration with Taylor Swift on the single “Two Is Better Than One.”
TAYLOR SWIFT HEADED BACK TO THE BIG SCREEN?

Is Taylor Swift eyeing up her next acting gig? The singer caught up with Entertainment Tonight at the Teen Choice Awards and admitted that she’s “been reading scripts for years.” There’s just one slight problem – timing! Taylor feels like there’s “never been anything that fit in [her] schedule that [she] also loved.” But if “those two things could happen” the country superstar would “love to be in a movie.” Taylor does have a busy schedule as her next album is expected later this year.
ELTON JOHN WILL BE A FATHER AGAIN

Elton John will soon be a father again. The Rocket Man has arranged a surrogate for a second child, a sibling to his 18-month-old son Zachary with husband David Furnish. The singer is using the same woman who gave birth to Zachary and according to England’s Daily Mail, she is currently in her first trimester. Just this week during a TV appearance, Elton said he didn’t want Zachary to be an only child.
