LADY GAGA DESIGNS HAT WITH LIVE COCKROACHES


Lady Gaga is reportedly working on a headpiece that incorporates live cockroaches. After learning of a recent study that suggests the insects respond more to her music than any other artists’, Gaga commissioned the hat, which will feature a netted cage full of the crawling creatures.  The singer made headlines for her infamous meat dress in 2010, but will likely set the bar even higher with the first live-cockroach hat.

NO DOUBT ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM TITLE, RELEASE DATE


No doubt about it…No Doubt is coming back to music, and have officially announced their new album’s title and release date. The band posted on their official website that their sixth studio album will be called Push and Shove and will come out on September 25th. It’s been nearly 11 years since the group has released a project together, with lead singer Gwen Stefani exploring her solo career and motherhood after the band’s last album in 2001. No doubt also announced that the first single off the new effort is, “Settle Down” and will be available on July 16th.

FUN. INSPIRED BY HIP-HOP!


After nearly four months since its release, fun.’s breakthrough record, Some Nights, is still a top-20 album and has sold over 305-thousand copies.  The effort spawned the New York group’s hit, “We Are Young,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks earlier this year.  We caught up with Andrew Dost, who told us the album was heavily inspired by hip-hop.  Fun. are currently out on the road and play in Indianapolis, Indiana tonight (6/13).  They head to their hometown of New York City for two shows at Terminal 5 on Saturday and Sunday. 

TAYLOR SWIFT JOINS VIDDY & SHARES SPECIAL DUET


Taylor Swift surely knows how to tease fans when it comes to recording new music! After joining the social media community Viddy, Taylor posted a 15-second video clip of a duet with British singer Ed Sheeran. The two sang Ed’s single, “Lego House,” while sitting on the floor of a kitchen. She encouraged all of her followers to pick up Ed’s new album, which was released yesterday (6/12).

 TAYLOR SWIFT ADDS ANOTHER AWARD TO THE MANTLE 


Taylor Swift’s good deeds have not gone unnoticed! The nonprofit group Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services awarded the singer with the 2012 Honorary Star of Compassion Award. Rob Adcock, director of the nonprofit group, pointed out that Taylor was recognized for “her uplifting works and music of encouragement.” The organization is known for being dedicated to disaster relief and education.

JUSTIN BIEBER ON WAITING IN LINE TO SEE CELEBRITIES

Justin Bieber fans are known to line up for hours just to catch a glimpse of the “Boyfriend” singer. So when asked by a reporter at a Monday press event who he would camp out for, Bieber admitted that he doesn’t admire anyone enough to wait all day. His one exception? Michael Jackson.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD VOICES SUPPORT FOR GAY MARRIAGE

Add another name to the list of celebrities who have voiced support for gay marriage, as Carrie Underwood recently backed the controversial subject. While being interviewed by The Independent, The former American Idol winner spoke at great lengths about the topic and cited her Christian upbringing as a factor in regard to her attitude towards the issue. The country queen had this to say: “Above all, God wanted us to love others… We have to love each other and get on with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody.” Underwood is in the same crowd as rapper Jay-Z and radio kingpin Howard Stern, who have both also recently voiced their approval of gay marriage.

SELENA GOMEZ IS READY TO BEGIN NEW ALBUM


Selena Gomez has had a busy 2012.  She shot three films, released a new fragrance and now it’s time to start thinking about new music.  The singer and actress told MTV News that she is now ready to start thinking about her fourth album, which will be the follow-up to 2011’s When The Sun Goes Down.  Gomez said the new album will be “very different” from her last and that she really wants to work with fun. and Taylor Swift on the effort.  The 19-year-old doesn’t have a timeframe for the release of the album, but says she would like to have it out around her 21st birthday in July 2013. THE WANTED TALK ONE DIRECTION


The Wanted and One Direction have ushered in what many are calling a new British Invasion.  Of course, this all comes on the heels of the success of Adele, who is the biggest U-K star to conquer the States in long time.  We caught up with The Wanted, who told us there is plenty of room for other British artists like One Direction. The Wanted’s self-titled EP is out now. 

THE WHO TO PLAY AT OLYMPICS CLOSING CEREMONY


We already know that Paul McCartney will be among the performers at the London Olympics’ opening ceremony and now, there’s word on who will be playing the closing ceremony of the games.  It’s The Who.  According to London’s The Mirror, the iconic rockers will perform on August 12th at the city’s Olympic Park.  They’ll be joined by Take That, George Michael and Emeli Sande in what organizers felt was a mix of artists who represent “Britain over the past 50 years.”  Read more at Mirror.co.uk.

USHER SAYS COLDPLAY INSPIRED “CLIMAX”

Usher revealed to FADER magazine that his sexy single, “Climax,” was actually inspired by Coldplay. The R&B crooner says the idea came to him while writing verses to the Diplo-produced record, which appears on Usher’s latest album, Looking 4 Myself.
