ADELE SCORES 24th WEEK AT NUMBER ONE!


Adele tops the Billboard album chart, selling 75-thousand copies of her breakthrough album, 21. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album has sold over 9.3-million copies since its release last year.  It and has been in the top ten for an amazing 68 weeks and in the top three for 60 weeks.  According to Billboard, 21 has spent 24 non-consecutive weeks at number one tying, Adele with the soundtracks to Saturday Night Fever and Purple Rain.  There are more records to break on the horizon for the U-K sensation.  Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Harry Belafonte's Calypso and the South Pacific soundtrack all spent 31 non-consecutive weeks at summit.

KATY PERRY GIVES A SNEAK PEEK OF “WIDE AWAKE”


Katy Perry released a sneak peek of her latest music video for “Wide Awake.” In the 82-second snippet, you see a young girl looking at an old storybook, which features shots from all of Katy’s other music videos, with the final chapter showing parts of her visual for “Wide Awake.” You can see Katy’s entire “Wide Awake” video on June 19th on MTV. PHILLIP PHILLIPS’ FAMILY GETS ROBBED!


Phillip Phillips has a lot to celebrate, having won this season of Idol and successfully recovering from his kidney stone surgery. But there is some bad news, the Idol’s family’s pawn shop business was just robbed and vandalized.  Crooks broke into the Albany Sporting Goods and Pawn in Albany, Georgia some time Monday night and took four-thousand dollars-worth of merchandise. Billboard reports that Phillips’ family was in L-A at the time of the break-in. No arrests have been made yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

LADY GAGA TO VOGUE


This fall, Lady Gaga will once again appear on the cover of Vogue. The pop star first appeared on the magazine’s March 2011 issue, sporting a pink wig and no eyebrows. This time, she was shot by Louis Vuitton photographers Mert and Markus and we bet they’ve done something remarkable. In the upcoming September edition, Gaga will talk about her new fragrance, Monster, which Billboard reports is “built around the scents of semen and blood.”

ELTON JOHN BOX SET OUT NEXT MONTH


Elton John released some amazing music during the early ‘70s and now, it’s all coming out again as part of a new box set.  The package, called The Classic Album Selection, will feature five albums: Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water, Honky Chateau and Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player.  All of the efforts were recorded consecutively between 1970 and 1973.  The set only includes the albums so there is no bonus material.  It’s out on July 2nd.

USHER WANTED TO COLLABORATE WITH AMY WINEHOUSE

Usher recently told MTV News that he was interested in collaborating with the late-Amy Winehouse. The crooner revealed that he was talking with producer Salaam Remi, who was very close with Winehouse, about doing a song before the singer died unexpectedly died at age 27 last July. Usher told us he met Winehouse and said “there were conversations that took place, but we never quite made it.”  He added that he would have loved to have worked with Amy.  Usher’s new album, Looking 4 Myself, is out now. 

CHESTER BENNINGTON ON WORKING WITH RICK RUBIN

With the June 26th release date of Linkin Park’s new album, Living Things, fans are anxiously awaiting what promises to be an amazing album with a new sound, thanks to producer Rick Rubin. The legendary producer has worked with everyone from RUN-D.M.C. to metal gods Metallica and funk masters the Red Hot Chili Peppers. With that kind of experience he should be a perfect fit for Linkin Park’s hybrid of rap and metal infused music.  Linkin Park are currently on tour with Incubus and will be performing at in St. Petersburg, Russia tonight.
