ALEXANDER McQUEEN PASSES AWAY
According to www.EW.com, Alexander McQueen died early Thursday morning in his London home. The brilliant fashion designer – who dressed Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lady Gaga – reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself just a week after his mother passed away. He was only 40 years old. The message on his official Web site reads: “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief.”
BALDWIN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL, RELEASED! Alec Baldwin was taken to a hospital in New York City after his daughter called 911 following an argument with her father. Early yesterday morning, fourteen-year-old Ireland told the 911 operator she was afraid her father was going to take some pills, so an ambulance came. The L-A Times reports he was in the hospital for less than an hour before being released and was at work on the set of 30 Rock later in the day.
FELLOW SKIPPERS REMEMBER CAPTAIN PHIL! The death of Deadliest Catch’s Captain Phil Harris isn’t just being felt by fans of the hit reality show. His fellow fishermen on the series are also sharing their sorrow over the loss. Skippers of the Time Bandit, Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand, took to their Facebook page, saying “We all share in this tremendous loss. May God bless you and keep you, Phil, you will certainly be missed.” Northwestern Captain Sig Hansen reworked his official web site in honor of the Cornelia Marie commander with the banner “Phil Harris was called home and will forever be remembered.”
WORLD PREMIERE OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND! The world premiere of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland will take place on Thursday, February 25th in London. The film’s stars, including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Avril Lavigne, Helena Bonham Carter and more, will all be in attendance for the screening of the 3-D film. Alice in Wonderland hits U-S theatres on March 5th.
2010 MTV MOVIE AWARDS AND MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS HEAD TO HOLLYWOOD! It’s just been announced that the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and MTV Video Music Awards will both air live from Hollywood! The Movie Awards will air Sunday, June 6th at 8 PM from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, September 12th at 8 PM Los Angeles California.

SEQUEL TO THE HANGOVER IS IN THE WORKS! The sequel to The Hangover, one of the most popular movies of 2009, looks like it’s ready to be made! According to www.PerezHilton.com, star Bradley Cooper and the rest of the cast got together to throw around some ideas before agreeing to make a second film together, but they liked what they heard, including a “hilarious opening” created by director Todd Phillips. No word on when the movie will begin filming.
SASHA COHEN: NO WIN FOR U-S WOMEN FIGURE SKATERS? Though she didn’t qualify for the U-S Women’s Figure Skating Olympic team, 2006 silver-medalist Sasha Cohen doesn’t believe they have a chance to take Gold this year. Placing fourth at Nationals kept Cohen from the Olympic lineup and sent teenagers Rachael Flatt and Mirai Nagasu to Vancouver. Cohen told www.People.com, “The U-S girls are young and haven’t competed as much internationally, so they’re kind of hit or miss. They’re good skaters, they're just not at the same level as the international girls.”
PREGNANT MAN, PREGNANT AGAIN! Thomas Beatie, the transgender who came to national fame after going on Oprah to discuss his unusual pregnancy, has given birth twice already, and now it seems like another is on the way. According to www.MomLogic.com, Beatie and his wife Nancy are pregnant with their third child, and just like the two before, Thomas will be carrying this one as well.
