Artists who turned down hit songs!

Leona Lewis recorded the hit track "We Found Love" before Rihanna released it last year.

She said, "It was the same version and production but mine's better. I still have the recording but I'd never leak it. That's so unprofessional."

Lewis isn't the only artist who passed on a future hit:

TLC turned down the song that would make Britney Spears a household name: "...Baby One More Time."
• Though the song was originally written for Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler recorded "Total Eclipse of the Heart."
Janet Jackson passed on "How Will I Know," which was then famously recorded by Whitney Houston.
Sara Evans reportedly passed on the country ballad, "Jesus Take the Wheel," calling it "stupid." The song went on to become Carrie Underwood's first big hit.
Hilary Duff was offered the track "Since U Been Gone," but the Lizzie McGuire star was afraid she wouldn't be able to hit the high notes, so the song went to Kelly Clarkson -- and straight to No. 1 on the US pop charts.
Lupe Fiasco was almost dropped from his label after he passed on two tracks -- "Nothin' On You" and "Airplanes" -- which were then recorded by unknown rapper B.o.B and turned into hits.
Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield" was originally offered to Rihanna, who turned it down following her now-infamous altercation with Chris Brown.
Christina Milian passed on "S.O.S." -- Rihanna's breakthrough US hit. Needless to say, Milian was then dropped from her label.
• Though originally written and recorded by Pink, the singer passed on "Whataya Want From Me," which then went to "American Idol" singer Adam Lambert.
