My crutch word is seriously. I say it all the time. I don't mean too....but I do. I assume its because I really want people to listen and take in what I'm saying. I guess I'm not too far off base.
Crutch words are those expressions people use throughout their language as verbal pauses to give people time to think and they can say a lot about a person.
An expert says if "um" is your clutch word then you aren't good at giving speeches.
If "basically" is your word you like to downsize and get rid of the clutter.
If "like" is your crutch you are probably a teen girl.
And if it's "seriously", you really want people to understand what you mean.
