In the interest of full disclosure; I grew up on the Michael Jordan NBA. The Bulls/Pacers, Bulls/Knicks, Bulls/Jazz rivalries with Bob Costas on the call and John Tesh bringing the heat with the absolute fire jam of the 90's, the NBA on NBC theme. So to say I have an affinity for Michael Jordan would be an understatement. I had the poster on the wall, I had the patent leather Jordan's (Mike just NARROWLY missed his key demographic with a pudgy 12 year old suburban white kid), I had the Air Jordan hats, everything. So with that said, I have an honest to God question, how many points would Jordan average if he played 20 minutes a game in the NBA at 50 years old. 10? 15? Because make no mistake about it, this guy can still play. And I love that you can still see the competitive edge even though he's battling Stephen Glansburg here. Like yeah Mike's laughing, but don't think for a second that he wouldn't demoralize this kid if Charles Barkley was making side bets from the stands. That's what separated Jordan from everyone else. Killer instinct. And how about this kid having a 'I got dunked on my Michael Jordan' story for the rest of his life. You don't know it yet my man but Michael Jordan just set up your dating game for LIFE.
PS: I don't know if it's possible for a theme song to make a sport but when this intro was being used the NBA was better times infinity. Also be care if you open a new browser to watch it, the 'related video' section of old school 90's NBA is a scary rabbit hole, trust me I hoped in last week. And that's what happened to my Monday-Thursday.
