GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - A vaccine to treat advanced prostate cancer has been approved for marketing by the Food and Drug Administration. It's called Provenge and is made by Dendreon Corporation.

Theda Clark Oncologist Dr. Anthony Phillips calls it a boon for cancer treatment. It designed to stimulating the immune system to attack malignant cells, by taking white-blood cells from a patient's tumor and incorporating them into the agent, then injecting them back into the patient.

Phillips expects demand to be high leading to availability concerns along with a high cost and questions about insurance coverage.
