(Duluth, MN)  --  Water contamination advisories have been quite common at beaches on the North Shore the past few years, especially around Duluth.  However, the state Pollution Control Agency has done no water-quality monitoring so far this season and does not expect to for another three weeks.  M-P-C-A officials say a key person left and they're contracting out beach water monitoring but it's not ready to go yet.  Regional Watershed Supervisor Pat Carey admits quote, "there could be issues" at some beaches and says they apologize for the delay.  Until monitoring resumes, Carey advises people to avoid water contact on North Shore beaches, especially after large rainstorms which can wash bacteria into the water.
