(St. Paul, MN) -- A new month begins at the state Legislature as the Democratic-controlled House considers an override of the governor's veto of extending General Assistance Medical Care benefits for Minnesota's poorest people. With Governor Pawlenty's deadline of scrapping the program now a month away, the administration has said it will start the process of moving people from GAMC over into Minnesota Care. A number of other events are planned at the capitol today including a rally this morning for early childhood education. Come tomorrow, a new economic forecast is due out with lawmakers cautiously optimistic that the state's one-point-two-billion dollar deficit will have shrunken, thanks in part to budget cuts and added federal stimulus money.
