(Undated)  --  The D-N-R is trying to protect radio-collared and tagged animals during the fall bear hunt in Minnesota.  It is not against the law to shoot these bears, but the data gathered from them is valuable to researchers.  Biologist Dave Garshelis (gar-SHELL'-iss) says the bears have brightly colored ear tags and some have streamers on collars as well.  The fall bear season opened last Tuesday and runs through October 17th.
