WASHINGTON DC (KDAL) - Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken have urged senate leaders to delay the closing or consolidation of post offices and mail processing facilities for six months. The senators joined 18 colleagues in signing a letter that says a moratorium is needed so sensible reforms can be considered before the Postal Service closes some local facilities that would severely impact rural communities. The USPS has proposed a cost cutting plan that would close or consolidate 3700 post offices and over 250 mail processing centers, including the one in Duluth and in three other Minnesota cities.
