The Duluth Transit Authority, which operates the city's bus system, will shut down service on Dec. 24 at 7:12 p.m., but will operate a limited holiday service schedule for regular routes and STRIDE services on Christmas day and New Years day.
DTA will offer free service on New Year's Eve between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m., in a partnership with the Fond-du-Luth Casino. The last buses departing downtown Duluth will leave as late as 2:10 a.m. on New Year's Day to accommodate revelers. The casino will cover all fares while the service is free. Last year, more than 700 riders took advantage of the free extended service after midnight, the DTA said.
