Duluth, MN (KDAL) - It's windy already, and it'll get windier for much of the state as the calender turns over tonight. It will be less windy in the Twin Ports and the Arrowhead, however. The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has put up a wind chill advisory from 10 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. Tuesday for parts of west central, central and southern Minnesota. The service is expecting wind chill values from minus-25 to near minus-30 into New Years Day, especially west of St. Cloud and south of New Prague. A combination of west to northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph and temperatures between 10 below and 20 below zero is accounting for these dangerously low wind chills. The weather service warns that wind chills at this level could result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Wear hat and gloves if going outside, it adds.
