ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - State legislators and the revenue commissioners of both Minnesota and Wisconsin met this week to discuss reinstatement of the income tax reciprocity between the two states. A previous agreement was ended in 2009 by then Minnesota Governor TIm Pawlenty because Wisconsin was not paying owed revenue on a timely basis. According to Minnesota State Senator Roger Reinert, Wisconsin has now agreed to make those payments quarterly and any discrepancies would be settled by the end of each calendar year. The two states hope to have an agreement in place by October 1st and have agreed on a goal to begin tax reciprocity again by 2013. Without tax reciprocity, residents who live in one state and work in the other have had to file income tax returns in both states.
