(KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is expecting a good year for deer hunters as the firearms season opens Saturday. At an estimated one million, the deer population is up from a year ago. Last year 500,000 hunters harvested 192,000 deer in the state. The season ends in northern Minnesota on November 18th and November 11th in other parts of the state. The first ever wolf hunting season also begins Saturday.
