Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Firefighters don't just start as volunteers anymore. Students at Lake Superior College are getting thrown into it when it comes to firefighting and life saving through a fire technology and administration program designed to breed a new class of firefighter.
The program is largely hands-on, and is designed with more than fighting fires in mind. It involves training for car accidents, hazardous material spills, cold-water rescues and many other scenarios requiring quick and decisive action.
The program, which has its own facility on campus, culminates in a two-year associates degree.
