WASHINGTON D.C. (KDAL) - Minnesota U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar has introduced bipartisan legislation designed to crack down on the growing problem of metal theft.  In the last two years, the National Insurance Crime Bureau found over 25 thousand  claims related to theft of metal, an increase of 81 percent from the previous two years.  Copper and other metals have been stolen from construction sites, vacant homes and even churches.  Klobuchar says the legislation would make it tougher for thieves to sell stolen metal to scrap dealers and would also toughen the penalties for stealing metal.
