Ashland, WI (KDAL) - The Canadian National Railroad is taking out the old Soo Line ore dock in downtown Ashland on the South Shore of Lake Superior, but part of the structure may be saved.
The City of Ashland is trying to secure the base of the dock for use as a fishing pier and moring dock and Don Jaskowiak is organizing a fund raising effort to buy the Soo Line dock's old light poles. Right now the poles are owned by the Minneapolis company in charge of the demolition of the dock.
A plan for the light stands is being worked on.
