(KDAL) - The 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to Stanford University Professor Brian Kobilka and Robert Lefkowitz at Duke University for their research into what is known as G-protein coupled receptors. Kobilka was born in Little Falls, Minnesota and is a 1977 graduate of UMD. The announcement was made Wednesday in Stockholm, Sweden. Nobel prize winners get about a 1.2 million dollar financial award which is 20 percent less than a year ago.
