Knife River, MN (KDAL) - It was a BBQ Rib Contest, a Community-wide outdoor feed and a fundraiser for the Knife River Community Center. All this Friday evening right downtown at the Lighthouse at Emily's along the banks of the Knife River. Everyone in town turned out. A group of judges sampled six different rib recipes in a blind taste test.
Noel Walter of Duluth finished third, Lakewood resident Mark Pearson came in second and Canal Park's Famous Dave's was the winner in the contest, which was for both professional chefs and backyard Bar-B-Qers. Other competitors supporting the event was the Lake Avenue Cafe, Lighthouse at Emily's and Randy Ellistadt.
Then followed the town dinner, proceeds of which went to the Community Center in Knife River.
