DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Those planning to head up the North Shore from Duluth, take heed: the city on Monday will be closing Congdon Blvd north of 61st Avenue East; Hwy. 61 and Scenic Hwy. 61 traffic will be diverted East Superior Street and 60th Avenue East. The move allows for construction of Phase 5 of the city's Lakewalk Extension program, which entails adding a pedestrian tunnel that will allow users to safely cross Hwy. 61. During construction, a temporary traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Superior Street and 60th Avenue East. City officials say the tunnel should be completed and the detour removed by June 19.
