SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) - Just before 3 a-m on Tuesday, the Superior Fire Department was called to the 28th Street boat landing on reports of someone calling for help. First responders from Superior were able to make voice contact with a man who was stranded on ice surrounded by open water and about 300 yards from shore. The St. Louis County Rescue Squad was called in and using their air boat was able to bring the man to shore. He was on the ice since about 9 p-m and apparently was in the water at least once. The victim, showing signs of hypothermia, was taken to a hospital.
