DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The St. Louis County Board held a public hearing Tuesday to get comments on whether they should appoint an interim commissioner in the 2nd District until the special election is held in January. Two people have come forward as potential appointees to the post. Ange Miller, the late Commissioner Steve O'Neil's wife; and Jim Laumeyer, a former MnDOT administrator. Both said they would represent the best interests of citizens of the 2nd District and would not run in the special election. The Board approved a resolution saying they would not consider a temporary appointment, other than Miller or Laumeyer, until after the filing period for the special election closes on September 3rd.
