One of the promotional appearances Lady Gaga made while hyping her album ARTPOP involved showing up at midnight for the opening of H&M's new flagship store in New York's Times Square -- the connection was that the store is carrying the disc, along with H&M's usual array of clothing and accessories. But now there's a report that the singer cashed a massive paycheck for that appearance.
The New York Post claims that Gaga was paid 500 thousand bucks to appear at the opening, and since she stayed for an hour and 40 minutes, she essentially earned $5,000 per minute for her troubles. Gaga arrived at the store on a double-decker bus, cut the ribbon, and shopped for half an hour with 20 lucky fans, some of whom had been lining up for more than 30 hours to catch a glimpse of her.
"I work really hard because I appreciate how much they believe in me,” she told Women's Wear Daily that night, speaking of her fans. “The saving grace of my life and my universe is that I have them.”
