Duluth, MN (KDAL) - The Chester Bowl Ski Hill opened its doors this past weekend and winter enthusiasts were quick to embrace the attraction. That’s according to Chester Bowl’s Thom Storm. He tells K-D-A-L News around 175 skiers and snowboarders turned out. How does that compare to previous years? To give you an idea, Storm says last year’s rain storms around the New Year reeked havoc on the trails. That aside, he notes that ordinarily the attraction wouldn’t be completely open this early. The abundant snowfall has also helped their bottom line because they haven’t had to produce as much snow. In fact, he says as far as conditions go—this year was the best that he can remember. All ski runs, trails and the terrain park will be open from 11 to 4:30 on Saturday and Sunday and from 4:30 to 8:30 on Monday, Thursday and Friday. The chairlift does not run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is the 108th year of organized skiing at Chester Bowl which opened in 1905.
