WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) - Senator Al Franken is disappointed that the Postal Service will be discontinuing Saturday delivery. Franken, who helped lead the charge last year to maintain reliable postal service for communities across Minnesota, says the decision will hurt many in the state that rely on the Postal Service for essentials like newspapers and paychecks. Franken says the situation could have been avoided had the House taken up the bi-partisan bill passed by the Senate last year. That legislation would have put the Postal Service on sounder footing and allowed rural communities a greater say in the operation of local post offices.
