UNDATED (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced there will be no 2013 moose hunting season and future seasons will not be considered until the population recovers. The DNR says the population of moose in northeast Minnesota has dropped 35 percent from last year and 52 percent since 2010. The agency is currently conducting a multi-year research project to investigate the causes of adult moose mortality. 92 moose have been fitted with GPS tracking and data collection collars in the Grand Marais, Ely and Two Harbors areas.
