DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Iron Mining Industry contributes over 3 billion dollars to the Minnesota economy according to a study by UMD.  The report also found that proposed expansions to existing mines and new mining projects could add another 4.3 billion in the future.  Iron mining also generated 152 million dollars in taxes for state and local governments.
