ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - Legislation being introduced in the state senate today would reinstate a five year moratorium on wolf hunting and trapping in Minnesota. Wolves were de-listed by the Federal Government a year ago and Minnesota held a wolf hunting season that started November 3rd. Opponents of the wolf hunt called the inaugural season a violation of the original Minnesota Wolf Management Plan and the public's trust. The bill sponsors say the five year wait would allow the state time to assess the wolf population and the impact of last year's hunt.
