DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The washed out bridge that spans the Lester River on the Jean Duluth Road has reopened to traffic for the first time since the June flood. The St. Louis County Public Works Department had accelerated the bridge's rebuilding to get the road opened. The bridge was traveled by an average of 4100 motorists a day prior to the storm. The total cost of the new structure was about a million dollars, 80 percent covered by Federal Emergency Relief funds and 20 percent by state flood bonding.
