DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Duluth Transit Authority's popular U-Pass Program is expected to surpass the 5 million rider mark on Wednesday. Once selected, the 5 millionth rider will be congratulated by UMD and DTA officials at the Kirby Transit hub and receive several gifts from the campus store and food service. The U-Pass Program began in September of 2000 as a partnership between UMD and the DTA to encourage greater use of public transportation by students. It has since expanded to include the College of St. Scholastica, Lake Superior College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
