ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is beginning a research project to determine why the moose population continues to decline. The project will use high tech equipment that tracks moose movement and health functions. The DNR will use helicopters to capture and fit radio collars on about 100 moose in northeastern Minnesota for the study. In order to make any changes in moose management, the DNR needs to find out why the animals are dying. They hope the project will provide some answers within the next couple of years.
