Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Duluth Police have identified a man fatally shot by officers Tuesday morning. According to investigators, officers Matthew Hendrickson and Jacob Peterson were investigating a single-vehicle crash where the driver had fled the scene. About a half-hour later, in search of the vehicle’s owner in the 300 block of East Locust, they encountered a Duluth man with a handgun, who has been identified as Zachary Rodney Paul Premo. Authorities say both officers shot Premo after he reached to the area where the gun was located. The 26 year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Hendrickson is a seven-year veteran of the force while Officer Peterson has been on the department for four years. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension continues to investigate.
